In an in-depth interview on the ‘Today Show,’ Harry opened up on the state of his life and relations with the Royal family on the back end of his recent visit to see his father and Queen Elizabeth II.
And after having been away from the UK for so long, Harry could have expected to show more enthusiasm towards the prospects of seeing his family. And yet, his comments showed anything but that.
In fact, Harry failed to acknowledge them with his answer. When asked if he misses his father and brother, Harry said: “I’m here focused on these guys [Invictus Games] and their families.
“That’s my focus here, and then when I leave here, I get back and my focus is my family, who I miss massively.” Harry’s comments were significant for the following reasons.
First of all, it is clear that there are still tensions between him and the Royal family. And with his tell-all memoir coming out this year, things are not looking promising for the Royal family in that regard.
Secondly, it may also demonstrate that Harry’s visit was merely to see the Queen, which explains why William and Kate Middleton were absent, even if it was put out that they were on a skiing holiday.
The response on social media was mixed. A certain subset of people were of the view that Harry had to let things go. Meanwhile, others understood the pressure that Harry was facing at the hands of the media to keep commenting about his family dynamics.
One person wrote: “Leave Harry alone. Put yourselves in his life and shoes. Would you want it scrutinized constantly??”
