Royal expert, Nick Bullen has revealed that Prince Philip gave up his non-royal job for Queen Elizabeth. The royal commentator claimed that the Duke of Edinburgh abandoned his military career for royal responsibilities. Prince Philip and Queen Elizabeth tied the knot in 1947.
And the marriage was blessed with four children, Charles, Anne, Andrew, and Edward. However, just four years into their marriage, the Queen ascended the throne following the death of her father, forcing Prince Philip to reconsider his ambitions.
Prince Philip Was Forced To Give Up On His Dreams Because Of The Queen
Speaking in a recent chat about the content of his latest royal documentary, Nick Bullen said, “What you learn from this new documentary on True Royalty is how self-deprecating he was. Whenever we filmed him, whenever I spoke to him, he really wasn’t interested in who he was, the Prince part was probably the least important part.”
Prince Philip Gave Up Plan Of Non-Royal Job To Take On ‘Most Important Role’ Beside Queen
“His naval career was hugely important, his role as a father was hugely important. But also probably his biggest role was sort of, as consort and support to the Queen. This was a guy that was born into service and he was born in a Royal Family. He went through military service and what you learn in this documentary is that service was at his absolute core,” he added.
Mr. Bullen further disclosed that Prince Philip longed to pursue his career in the navy. However, he was forced to revoke his dreams after Queen Elizabeth ascended the throne quite early. The royal expert maintained that Prince Philip thought that supporting the Queen was the biggest way he could help the nation.
Apart from his royal engagements, Prince Philip was renowned for establishing the Duke of Edinburgh Awards scheme in 1956. The initiative equips youths, aids them to learn new skills, helps them defeat difficulties, and develops their reliance. Although the award began in United Kingdom, it covers more than 140 countries at the moment.
