Queen Elizabeth II has reportedly withdrawn from the Royal family’s Easter engagement at St George’s Chapel, Windsor.
Queen Elizabeth II Withdraws From Her Easter Service Obligations On Health Grounds-‘We Will Be Lucky To See Her Last Out The Year Frankly’
According to reports, the monarch was set to attend as part of the Royal Maundy Day service in which the Queen is known for handing out gifts/money to those that have given back to the community.
As part of that process, the monarch distributes these gifts according to her current age. With that being said, she was expected to honour 96 men and women in line with the Queen’s 96th birthday on Thursday, 21st April.
With that now out of the equation, Prince Charles has taken up the mantle alongside Duchess Camilla. This was on the grounds that the Queen was keen on making sure that the event continued as normal in order ‘to avoid any misunderstanding or the day to be overshadowed,’ as per the claim by sources.
And yet, there is a bigger issue at hand here. The Queen’s absence once again demonstrates the concern surrounding her health.
It is believed that she had been suffering from problems with her mobility, which only goes on to confirm earlier reports last year where the monarch was pictured with a walking stick.
Despite being absent from the event, the Queen has no plans of slowing down anytime soon. She is expected to continue her Royal duties by way of virtual meetings.
But there is the question of how long can she continue in this capacity? And this was reflected in the comments that followed on social media.
A significant proportion of people were concerned about the monarch’s welfare, with some even suggesting that a succession plan was needed to avoid the monarchy from suffering should she not see the year out.
One person wrote: “I think HM is very sick. I think we will be lucky to see her last out the year frankly.” The Queen’s absence once again shows the fragility of the monarchy.
And with Charles hardly being the most popular member, he will have huge boots to fill. So there you have it folks. What did you think about this? Let us know your thoughts in the comments section below.
