Bethenny Frankel no longer feels that New York City is safe following the shooting in which many people were shot on the Brooklyn subway.
‘RHONY’: Bethenny Frankel No Longer Feels The City Is Safe Following The Brooklyn Shootings
The incident sent shockwaves around the world, as it marked another case for the imposition of more gun control measures. The United States has witnessed many such cases, most notably the Sandy Hook shootings.
As of now, the suspect in question, Frank James has been arrested by the authorities. And all of this really hit home for Bethenny, who was no longer of the view that the city was safe for people.
In a statement, she said: “This subway situation is terrifying, and New York is not what it used to be. New York City is not safe.”
Her comments are especially true since the former ‘Real Housewives of New York City’ star has a daughter (Bryn). And that is why Bethenny admitted to having reservations about allowing her daughter to wander alone in the city.
Although Bethenny is an ardent New Yorker by virtue of the fact that she is from there, it has not been enough for her to give the city the benefit of the doubt.
She added: “People want to have pride of New York and make the city come back, and it is our New York, and I am a New Yorker, but I’m sorry, safety is more important than pride.”
The response from the fans on social media was mixed. A certain subset of people agreed with what Bethenny had to say, which was demonstrated by the increasing crime rate in the city.
Meanwhile, others were of the view that a single incident should not be allowed to tarnish everything. One person wrote: “Do you even live here anymore?
“Not everyone has the financial freedom or option to just up and move to the suburbs. But thanks for chiming in.” It is safe to say that Bethenny is not the city’s biggest fan. So there you have it folks. What did you think about this? Let us know your thoughts in the comments section below.
