Joe Gorga asserted that his wife, Melissa Gorga, had a tough introduction to his relatives when she initially joined the family.
RHONJ: Joe Gorga Admits His Family Were Not Fans Of His Wife Melissa-‘My Mother Was Rough, My Dad Was Rough On Her’
Melissa and Joe decided to get married in 2004. During the course of that process, they have had many issues. There were worries over whether they had the same priorities, with Joe favouring a traditional marriage, while Melissa wanted to focus on ventures.
Not only that, but allegations emerged that Melissa had cheated on Joe with none other than Nick Barotta. And yet, during the course of that process, they managed to raise three children: Antonia, Gino, and Joey.
But when it comes to the wider family, things had not been so smooth. Joe and Melissa are not on good terms with the former’s sister, Teresa Giudice. So much so that the couple decided to skip her wedding with Luis Ruelas.
With that being said, Melissa had to do a lot to win over the family. In his comments, Joe said: “My mother was rough on her, my dad was rough on her.
“She’s a good woman and then she married into an old-school Italian family and she took a beating — she did. And that’s why I respect her and love her because you know what, she’s the best.”
However, Melissa expressed her frustration with Teresa saying she was “fake” after text messages between them were made public.
She said she had messaged Teresa, 50, to tell her that she wouldn’t be at her wedding party, however, she mentioned that her relative had not responded for a while.
When she did, it was with a photo of two men with Easter eggs on their rear. And that did not sit very well with Melissa. Her following comments confirmed as much: “She did not reply to the text messages I sent after we filmed the reunion.
“CRICKETS!!! It wasn’t until three weeks later, and after the reunion AIRED.” As long as Melissa and Joe are happy, then that is the most important thing, even if she cannot please everyone.
