Wrestlemania 38 is in the books, and not everyone got out of the show without incident. During the first match of Wrestlemania Saturday, Shinsuke Nakamura & Rick Boogs were facing Jimmy & Jey Uso for the Smackdown Tag Team Championships. While attempting to take both Usos onto his shoulders, Boogs would see his leg collapse. He’d tag Nakamura into the match, and be helped to the back while Nakamura & The Usos did their best to cover this injury and finish the match.
Surgery Was Successful
Now, just a few days later – we have good news about the status of Rick Boogs. According to Mike Johnson at PWInsider, Rick Boogs has undergone successful surgery for his torn quad in Birmingham, Alabama. Boogs is reportedly scheduled to leave Alabama sometime this weekend to return back to his home and begin the healing and rehab process.
There is currently no timetable for a Rick Boogs return, and Shinsuke Nakamura is expected to enter the singles division once again, perhaps being a potential challenger for Roman Reigns in the coming months.
Rick Boogs Promises To Come Back Bigger, Better and Stronger From This Injury
Following Wrestlemania 38, Boogs would post the following statement to his Instagram page.
”From the highest of highs to lowest of lows. Having my beautiful wife with me to experience my first Wrestlemania. Getting the incredible opportunity to open the show! Being able to demonstrate brute strength in front of millions of viewers! Unfortunately, the doctor told me my quad was too strong for the tendon and it was flexing so hard, it ripped the tendon totally off the bone. I’m still incredibly grateful for the experience and for all the love and support. History proves I will come back bigger, better, and stronger. IT’S A MINDSET”
