Lately, WWE have been going crazy with the names changes of talents. WALTER became GUNTHER, Marcel Barthel became Ludwig Kaiser, Austin Theory became Theory, Raul Mendoza became Cruz Del Toro, and that’s just the tip of the iceberg. Now two more wrestlers from the NXT brand are set to get new names, despite being years into their WWE tenures.
Kay Lee Ray To Be Renamed Alba Fyre
The first is perhaps the one that will get the most attention. Former NXT UK Women’s Champion Kay Lee Ray has been with WWE since 2019 – spending the bulk of her time with the company with a 649 day reign as NXT UK Women’s Champion. Having recently returned to NXT 2.0 – she was able to win the 2022 Dusty Rhodes Tag Team Classic alongside Io Shirai, before failing to capture the NXT Women’s Championship at Stand & Deliver.
However, her time as Kay Lee Ray is over – as she will now be called Alba Fyre. This was confirmed by PWInsider. Considering she’s already got an established legacy in WWE – this is similar to when WALTER had his name changed to GUNTHER. She will remain one of the best wrestlers on the roster, regardless of name.
Kacy Catanzaro Is Now Katana Chance
We will also see one of the undercard ladies in NXT get a name change as well. Former American Ninja Warrior star Kacy Catanzaro is now to be known as Katana Chance. Unlike Kay Lee Ray, Catanzaro has not had many highlights in WWE yet – and this could be the chance of a bigger push for her.
Catanzaro has been in a tag team with Kayden Carter for the past few years, but there is no news on Carter getting a new name as well. They are one of the better female tag teams in WWE right now, and could have a big future ahead of them in both NXT and the WWE main roster.
