Prince Harry and Meghan Markle paid an unexpected visit to Queen Elizabeth on Thursday, April 14, making a rare appearance in the UK since stepping down as members of the British royal family in 2020.
The shocking visit has left many wondering if the Duke and Duchess of Sussex are now open to repairing the damaged relationship between them and the British monarchy. Prince Harry and Prince William have had a complex relationship in recent years but there is a rejuvenated sense of hope that Harry and Meghan will see Prince William and Kate Middleton in the near future.

Prince Harry and Prince William have always shared a special bond upon experiencing a truly unique life together. “Nobody apart from each other knows exactly – not even their father – what’s gone on in their heads and their hearts for the last 20-odd years.
They both experienced the loss of their mother. The only people that they could trust to talk about it in a candid way was each of them,” said Princess Diana‘s biographer, Andrew Morton.
Despite growing up in similar circumstances, the brothers have grown to be vastly different. It is widely believed that Harry’s relationship with Meghan was the catalyst for trouble between the brothers. While William is dedicated to his role as a royal, Harry has distanced himself from the Royal Family.
Harry acknowledged that there was some tension between himself and William in 2019, stating, “Part of this role and part of this job, this family, being under the pressure that it’s under, inevitably stuff happens. But look, we’re brothers, we’ll always be brothers. We’re certainly on different paths at the moment but I’ll always be there for him and as I know he’ll always be there for me.”
During a sit-down interview Harry and Meghan did in 2021, the Duke of Sussex remained optimistic that he and his brother would mend fences. “I love William to bits,” he noted. “We’ve been through hell together and we have a shared experience, but we are on different paths. The relationship is space at the moment and time heals all things, hopefully,’ he revealed.
Those close to Prince Harry and Prince William believe that their estrangement has been troublesome for both of them. “It’s very clear to those that know William that the rift with his brother is not something that he can just forget about. It’s very much, as you can imagine, a constant strain. It is for Harry as well—they’re both as stubborn as mules,” said a source.
During their recent visit, Prince Harry and Meghan Markle spent time with the Queen along with Prince Charles and Camilla at Windsor Castle. The couple seem to be making great strides toward resolving their issues, and if Harry and Meghan continue on this path they just might reunite with Prince William and Kate Middleton soon.
