It has been an incredibly busy week for WWE, especially with their NXT brand. For the first time since the start of the COVID-19 pandemic, they ran a larger venue for NXT Stand & Deliver, and that show saw many titles change hands. One of the biggest matches of the weekend saw Wes Lee & Nash Carter reclaim the NXT Tag Team Championships – but meanwhile on Twitter, a storm was brewing.
Nash Carter Gets Released From His WWE Contract
The spouse of Nash Carter, fellow wrestler Kimber Lee (currently signed to Impact Wrestling) would accuse Carter of both physical and emotional abuse. Now, after both photographic evidence of the abuse and an extra shot of Carter doing a nazi salute while having his facial hair styled like that of Adolf Hitler? WWE has made the choice to release Carter from his WWE contract.
WWE has faced multiple controversies in the past few years, and it has previously led to multiple names being released, such as Velveteen Dream, Lars Sullivan, Travis Banks, and Jack Gallagher. Generally when solid evidence is provided, talent will quickly be cut for WWE to save face.
NXT 2.0 Will Have To Find New Champions
This leaves NXT without a team to defend the NXT Tag Team Championships however, and while Wes Lee still has a future with the promotion – the second reign of MSK is officially over. Having built up The Creed Brothers as a legitimate team, and brought Pretty Deadly over from NXT UK – there are two potential teams ready for a long reign.
Former champions Fabian Aichner & Marcel Barthel seemingly broke up on the latest episode of NXT 2.0 however, with Aichner abandoning Barthel during a match. WWE could back step on that with MSK now gone, or we could see Aichner & Lee unite as a tag team in the meantime.
At the end of the day, the show will go on. NXT 2.0 has a stacked roster when it comes to talent. They will find new tag team champions, and Nash Carter will likely just be forgotten by the brand. MSK were scheduled to defend the belts against Grayson Waller & Sanga next week on NXT 2.0.
