Kanye West’s Donda Sports is seeing a few more athletes sign on with the agency as Boston Celtic guard Jaylen Brown jumps on board. The announcement of him joining the agency came after Los Angeles Rams defensive tackle Aaron Donald discussed being in talks with Kanye West and signing with Donda Sports.
The 25-year-old inked his deal this month, according to TMZ. However, Ye and Jaylen Brown have been on really good terms for some time. Kanye West would show up at a March game between the Celtics and the Golden State Warriors and hung out with him afterward.
A Big Get for Kanye West: Boston Celtics’ Jaylen Brown Joins Donda Sports
We can’t forget about Brown rocking a Donda Sports hoodie while chilling with rapper A$AP Ferg. So, there’s a connection there between the two and an in for Donda Sports. Also interesting is that Donda Sports picked up Brown not just because of his athletic ability and upside but because of his social activism, intellect, religious belief, and work in charity.
He can handle himself well in an interview, isn’t involved in anything shady, he isn’t disruptive, and he’s just all-around clean.
It’s a massive bonus for any sports or talent agency when you get a client who has upside and isn’t going to make your agents work hard to shine their image as the client themselves did most of the image building. Kanye West essentially found a ready-made talent who is ready for any opportunity the Donda Sports team brings his way.
As a rookie in the 2016 NBA Draft, Jaylen Brown opted to go it without an agent or agency behind him. Instead, he used the National Basketball Players Association and former Pistons point guard/NBA champion Isiah Thomas as his mentor.
While speaking with the NY Post about going the agent-less round, Brown said “I wanted to be able to advocate for myself. It’s a learning experience.” The business side of sports should be easier for the young star with an agency that is so high on him having his back.
