Dave Chappelle had reportedly spoken to his attacker Isiah Lee in the aftermath of the event.
Dave Chappelle Confronted His Attacker Backstage After The Attack-‘I Needed To Talk To Him’
The comedian had been performing at the Netflix Is A Joke’ festival on Tuesday, 3rd May 2022 when the event unfolded. The defendant had decided to accost him on stage with a replica gun that just so happened to include a folding blade.
But rather than being freaked out by the whole incident, Dave wanted to get to the bottom of what motivated the attacker to act in the way that he did.
According to the Hollywood Reporter, Dave had persuaded his security team to speak with Isiah backstage. Dave was then alleged to have stated the following: “I needed to talk to him.”
And after having had that conversation, the comedian got the answers that he was looking for. It is claimed that Isiah had informed Chappelle about how his grandmother, who was forced to leave Brooklyn on the basis of gentrification, which ultimately led him to acting out of turn.
In the event of doing so, Isiah was apparently of the view that the spotlight would have been transferred onto his grandmother’s situation by virtue of the fact that his name would have gained much attention.
Isaiah has become a household name, but sadly for him, it is for all the wrong reasons. With that being said, Dave moved on to more lighthearted matters. After having had those answers from Isiah, he began to make jokes about the whole ordeal.
He expanded on how the incident he had suffered was nothing in comparison to Chris Rock, who was attacked by someone that was noteworthy.
In his comments, Dave remarked: “[ I was] smacked by a homeless guy with leaves in his hair. At least you got smacked by someone of repute.”
