Floyd Mayweather is Dubai-bound once again as he will be heading in for an exhibition bout against former sparring partner Don Moore, according to TMZ Sports. Meanwhile, former UFC Middleweight champion Anderson Silva will be on the undercard taking on Bruno Machado.
Floyd Mayweather Is Heading to Dubai for Rescheduled Exhibition Fight
The fight was scheduled for Saturday, May 14 but it was canceled after the UAE President Sheik Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan passed. Promoters for the event apologized for the cancellation:
“We apologize for any inconvenience this may cause and reassure fans that this spectacular event will be staged in future.”
Now the event will take place a week later on May 21. It will be Mayweather’s first exhibition a year after facing Logan Paul in June 2021. That exhibition ended up being a massive pay-per-view draw.
If you wondering about what kind of boxer Don Moore is, ESPN describes him as “an undefeated yet unheralded boxer who mostly competed in four-round bouts until his final fight in 2016.” Known as “Dangerous” Don Moore, he was a featherweight division competitor who debuted in 1996 and ended his career in 2016 at 19-0-0 with 12 knockouts.
Perhaps it was his rank of his opponents but he would never contend for a championship in a roughly ten-year pro career. This exhibition in Dubai is certain to be a big payday for both boxers.
