Taking some time off is not the same as retirement. That is what the former UFC and Bellator competitor Houston Alexander is saying. He is on pause for 4 years now, but he never mentions the word retirement.

The 50-year-old, despite his age, looks stunning. He is ripped and jacked up to the max. His abs are sticking out of his abdomen, and his hands and legs seem as powerful as in his prime days. He has nothing to be afraid of. With a physique like that he sure puts fear into his opponents.

“I don’t think it was a retirement thing. I’ve always been doing other things. I think I concentrate more on my foundation and doing radio and doing television. So, you know, I am doing other things, too. Along with MMA, I do other things other than MMA.” – the veteran says for the MMA Underground.

The first win that he had at the BKFC 21 over Wes Combs is coupling with his incredible physique to prove that he still ‘has it’. He did not manage to win by a knockdown, however, his overpowering is evident throughout the whole match. This is his debut in the sport and a clear message that he is here to conquer. And he is not about to stop when he just started. He feels ready and competent to bear almost anybody.

“I feel like I am still beating the youngsters’ asses while we’re training, so if I’m still doing that, man. I know I’d rather get paid to fight than spar.” – the rising BKFC star says.

This transition to bare-knuckle fighting is not really a transition. It is more of revert to a past sport, that he had experience in, even before competing in MMA.

“I did not make the move because I haven’t been bare-knuckling before. I’ve always bare-knuckled. They just got it sanctioned now.” – he jokes.

He currently stands at an incredible 133lbs of lean muscle. His next match will be at the BKFC fight night Cochrane vs Dyer, which will take place on the 13th of May 2022, at the Liberty First Credit Union Arena in Omaha, Nebraska. The person who will oppose him is Jason Fish, a 200+lbg monster that has a little more experience than Houston. His personal bare-knuckle boxing record is 2-1-0 and he is with the promotion since last March.

“If I’m winning at this level, with people in my age group, why not? Why not continue to fight, and why not continue to do what I enjoy?” –  he says.

Most certainly, he should continue doing what he loves. Important is to sense when he needs to stop. And as a professional, he surely will do. Until then we can enjoy his fights, now in the bare-knuckle boxing sport.
