The main bout of the UFC 274 event is exciting by itself. Charles Oliveira delivers a submission to Justin Gaethje in the first round and shocks everybody. However, according to many, the bout that ‘made’ the UFC 274 event is the Michael Chandler against Tony Ferguson. The best knockout in the lightweight division for a long time.
In the next few sentences I will try to grasp the essence of the match. Ferguson maybe dominated the first round, according to the judges. However, round two is completely Chandler’s. He sealed this domination with the front leg kick that came unexpectedly. His leg ending on Ferguson’s jaw distorts Ferguson’s face to an extent that it becomes completely unrecognizable. Immediately after the kick, the referee rushes to stop any additional blows and declares a KO.
Michael Chandler Calls Out Conor McGregor After UFC 274 Win – Will It Happen?
To be honest, Michael Chandler’s win is not a surprise. He came more ready and more conditioned than Ferguson. Coupled with this is the ongoing ‘beef’ that Tony Ferguson has with the UFC. Tony Ferguson, came ready, but pissed off at the promotion and it felt like he did not give 100% for this bout.
After the knockout, the audience and the UFC staff got really scared for Ferguson’s well-being. He wasn’t responsive for a couple of seconds and that was really chilling to watch. However, luckily for everyone, the medical team managed to wake him up shortly after that.
After the fight in the post-fight interview, The Iron airs a massive call out to everyone he remembers. Firstly he challenges Charles Oliveira, and Justin Gaethje, and finally does the biggest callout until now. He calls out Conor McGregor.
“I’m ready to come back. The main event, there is not one MMA fan who doesn’t want to see me rematch you Charles, or rematch you Justin Gaethje. But if the UFC has a momentary lapse and gives the title shot to someone else, I’ve got one dude on my mind. Conor McGregor, I am the most entertaining lightweight on the planet. I want you at your worst and I want you at your best. You and me at 170lb.” – the lightweight winner finishes.
Michael Chandler adds one win to his professional record, making it 23-7-0. However, this is his first win after two losses the previous year.
Chandler is new to the UFC promotion. He is in the promotion since January 2021. His UFC record stands at 2-2-0. Nonetheless, his latest win promises that he can be successful.
Who will he fight next? Will it be Gathje? Will it be Oliveira? Or maybe Conor? Dana White is about to make some tough calls.
