The main bout of the UFC Vegas 53 event was the Marlon Vera against Rob Front fight. Many have predicted that this would be a short and brutal fight, however, they only got one part of the prediction right. The fight was brutal, but not short at all. We’ve seen two gladiators fight with determination and will as if they are fighting for their life.
Throughout all five rounds, the atmosphere was tense and it was unbelievable to see Rob Front rise and continue the fight after being knocked down for three straight rounds. The second, third, and fourth round.
Marlon Vera Teaches Rob Front A Fighting Lesson At UFC Vegas 53 – Wins by Unanimous Decision
The Chito, Marlon Vera is fighting for the UFC since 2014 and has a professional record of 19-7-1 or 13-6-0 in the UFC. This time he took the win by unanimous decision. He considers this as one of the greatest fights in his career, if not the greatest.
“I feel today, something my coach always says: My mind is catching up to my body. It’s been a long road, a long journey. But hard work … hard work pays off.” – the Chito says.
Even though Marlon Vera’s career is long and prosperous, he had never been on the covers of posters. He never had a main bout until now. After he dominated his opponent at his first main event today, he claims that he is ready for the next step. He says that he hopped on the success train and he has no plan of getting off any time soon.
“This win, in my mind, is already in the past. I don’t live for whatever is done, I keep working for whatever is coming.” – the winner says.
Back to the fight – even though it was a win for Vera and an evident one since he dominated the ring most of the time he would have benefited more from a knockout win. More attention, more blood, more happy fans – a more successful bout. But, it is what it is.
However, don’t think that a knockout win was far away. It’s just that the cards were not dealt good to Vera and he did not have enough luck to finish the bout in such a fashion. In the end of the second round, Vera struck a left hook and knocked down Rob Front. The same happened in the third and in the fourth round. If only he had the time and strength to push a little bit more a knockout would have been inevitable.
Nevertheless, a win is a win. And this is his third win in a row. What is next for the Ecuadorian fighter? Will he be able to continue this winning streak? After this bout, the world saw that he has it in him.
