That is according to Royal expert Neil Sean. This admission arrives on the back end of criticism Meghan had received for attending a memorial that was held in honour of the victims that had died at the Texas school shooting in Robb Elementary School.
Her appearance was criticised after photographers were on hand to take pictures of Meghan placing some white roses, as she was accompanied by a bodyguard. Therefore, there was an assumption that this was an attempt at publicity.
Not only that, but with her father Thomas Markle currently in hospital after having suffered a stroke, there were calls on Meghan to be focusing on issues closer to home.
With that being said, Neil did not rule out the possibility of Meghan not attending. In his comments, he said: “All this negative and bad publicity from the visit to Texas means that she pulls the plug on her return to London.”
There is no denying that Megan could refuse to attend. And if this were the case, it would most likely be due to the condition of her father.
In addition, Meghan’s half-sister Samantha Markle has urged the Duchess to reach out to her father, Thomas Markle, amid his deteriorating health. And given that he is 77-years-old, the chances of Thomas pulling through are in the balance.
So if Meghan were to attend the jubilee and not see her father, she may end up receiving much more backlash. The fans on social media had mixed feelings, though.
While a certain subset wanted her to not attend, others felt that the opportunity of the limelight was too good to turn down. One person wrote: “Good! We don’t want her.”
While another person stated: “Don’t be stupid, she will need lots of good publicity so where better than the Jubilee.”
