Streaming giant, Netflix has failed to secure a permit for their camera crew for the platinum festivities. It was thought that the streaming service would cover any platinum events that Prince Harry and Meghan Markle went to. The Sussexes struck a multimillion dollar documentary deal with the streaming service in 2020. However, it is understood that Neflix crew members will be “moved on” even if they mount their cameras to film Harry and Meghan from public zones.
Netflix Crew Barred From Covering The Platinum Jubilee
Several media companies from across the globe will be present in the UK throughout the long weekend. It is understood that some of the biggest media outlets in the UK and US have already established their control rooms close to Buckingham Palace. Several media companies that have yet to receive their permits are expected to do so before the Thanksgiving service.
Netflix Camera Crew Will Be ‘Moved On’ If They Cover Prince Harry And Meghan Markle At The Queen’s Platinum Jubilee
However, a reliable source has disclosed to The Telegraph that Netflix will not be considered for the permit. This will make it impossible for them to legally cover the event. Netflix last covered the Sussexes at the Invictus Games that were held in the Netherlands in April 2022.
In September 2021, a media crew belonging to the streaming giants accompanied the couple on their trip to New York. It had been previously reported that Netflix crew shot some of the documentary at the couple’s California residence.
However, the crew are reportedly barred from the platinum because royal aides are extremely cautious about their participation in the Platinum Jubilee. Prince Harry and Meghan Markle are expected to arrive in the UK within the next three days for the platinum jubilee celebrations.
This will be the first time the Sussex family will be in the UK since Prince Harry and Meghan left for the US. The Queen will finally get to meet the couple’s first daughter, Lilibet, who was born in 2021. It will also be the first time that Prince Charles and Camilla, Duchess of Cornwall, will get to meet the little princess.
