Fans are eagerly awaiting the release of the AEW console wrestling game. For many years now, WWE has controlled the games market with their annual WWE 2k releases – but fans are ready for something new. Despite AEW Games mobile platform releases being lacking, there is high hopes for their console debut – and we have some new information on what to expect.
AEW: Fight Forever Is Reported To Have 50 Wrestlers At Launch
We have some confirmation on things such as the name of the game, roster size, and more. Fans have assumed the title of AEW: Fight Forever for a few weeks now, and this has been confirmed by both AEW themselves and Fightful.
As for roster size, it’s been reported there will be 50 wrestlers playable at launch. Names like Kenny Omega, Ruby Soho, Chris Jericho, CM Punk, Bryan Danielson, Adam Cole, Darby Allin, Hangman Page, Sting, Jungle Boy, Hikaru Shida and more are expected – as well as Owen Hart. AEW also confirmed today during a live stream that Kris Statlander & Nyla Rose will be playable.
Cody Rhodes was previously announced, but it’s unclear if his return to WWE will remove him from the game.
50 wrestlers is small for a modern wrestling game, but there is likely to be DLC packs or patches to keep the roster up to date. This is their first game of this kind, and getting the gameplay correct is more important than ensuring everyone is going to be in the game from day one.
Coming To PC and Most Major Consoles… Except Nintendo Switch
As for where you will be able to play this game, the game has now been confirmed for release on Xbox Series S, Xbox One, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, and PC. Nintendo Switch players will once again miss out – though reported involvement from THQ Nordic could indicate that a Switch port could be coming somewhere down the line. THQ Nordic are a common developer for Nintendo Switch, handling many ports of older games coming to the platform.
The game is hopefully set to be released in late 2022, with a fall release hopeful to tie into All Out 2022 – one of the biggest AEW shows of the year. Who do you hope to see playable in AEW: Fight Forever?
