Taiji Ishimori was able to finally defeat a career rival in Yoshinobu Kanemaru, but the 2020 New Japan Cup was an odd place without fans in the arena. Tonight, he’s got a chance to beat The Heel Master in a sold out Korakuen Hall, and try to start catching up to his 1-13-1 record against Kanemaru. Ishimori has been unshakable in this tournament, and could hit double digits here – but if anyone has his number, it’s Kanemaru.

Yoshinobu Kanemaru Could Beat Taiji Ishimori With His Eyes Closed – Improves Record To 14-1-1

Kanemaru wasted no time going right after the knee of Ishimori with a dropkick, before Ishimori even got his belt off his waist. Ishimori went to the outside to regroup, before Kanemaru fled to the outside. Back into the ring, Kanemaru hit British Fall and looked for Deep Impact.

Ishimori would block into Bloody Cross, before going for his belt as a weapon. Kanemaru instead caught him with a face full of whiskey spray – before a tight roll up for the three count.

Death, taxes, and Yoshinobu Kanemaru beats Taiji Ishimori – the three constants in life. Considering he just beat the reigning IWGP Junior Heavyweight Champion in under five minutes, Kanemaru might have just earned a title shot regardless if he wins this tournament or not.

    TJP Outworks Robbie Eagles

Both Robbie Eagles & TJP have been wrestling good tournaments as expected, but results haven’t been working out as they’d hoped. Tonight, they will have a chance to steal a stacked card, but at four and two points respectively, a win here is more important than a good performance. TJP has only beaten Master Wato thus far, while Eagles has wins over Wheeler Yuta & DOUKI. After losing to Wato, Eagles can’t afford to slip into a losing streak – and can’t afford for TJP to break his.

Eagles would take TJP to the mat with ease, before TJP would handstand his way to freedom. He’d trip Eagles up before losing control and getting an insulting pat on the head for his efforts. A headlock takeover out of the corner would follow, before TJP would look to just force a pinfall.

Eagles bridged up before sending TJP to the floor, and teasing the dive before getting caught with a chokehold in the ropes. TJP would turn it into a neckbreaker, before applying the Muta Lock in the ring. Eagles broke free, before looking for Turbo Backpack. TJP blocked, before taking a blindside elbow to the head.

Ron Miller Special was set up, but TJP would slip away before the springboard elbow smash and Final Cut for a near fall. Pinoy Stretch was attempted, but Eagles would counter into the Ron Miller Special.

TJP made the long crawl, before being hit with Turbo Backpack. 450 Splash was blocked with a knee strike, before Mamba Splash. Pinoy Stretch applied, and TJP would get the victory.

Can TJP turn his tournament around? Let us know what you think in the comment section down below.
