El Desperado has really taken to being the ace of the Junior Heavyweight division in NJPW, and has really proven to be among the best champions in recent memory. Carrying that belt into Best of the Super Juniors would be huge for him, but standing in his way is Taiji Ishimori. These are two renowned rulebreakers, and tonight it will come down to both who is the better wrestler – and who is more crafty with their cheating.
A Fast Paced Start From Two Entrants In BOSJ 2022
This one would start fast with some excellent technical wrestling, with Ishimori using his speed to gain a slight advantage before a rough rake to the eyes. Both these men have been announced for the Best of the Super Juniors tournament, but in opposite blocks – meaning fans won’t get this match in the tournament unless it’s the finals.
On the floor, Desperado was dropped across the steel of the barricade – and Ishimori would expose a corner of the ring which Desperado recovered. Back in the ring, Desperado had his shoulder driven into the corner, before Ishimori would look for the submission on the mat.
Ishimori was caught in the corner with a tight kick to the knee before a Dragon Screw. Desperado would apply the Indian Deathlock on the mat, but Ishimori was able to get the bottom rope to free himself. He’d find himself plucked off the mat and slammed back down with a back suplex, before another attack on his legs. You take away the speed of Ishimori, and you potentially secure the win.
Guitarra de Angel was blocked, before Ishimori crushed Desperado shoulder first into the ring post. A knee drop shoulder breaker from Ishomori left neither man feeling particularly great, before Ishimori hit Bloody Cross. The damage to the knees meant a slow pinfall, and a kick out from Desperado.
Taiji Ishimori Brings The IWGP Junior Heavyweight Championship Back To BULLET CLUB
Desperado was able to block the attempt of La Mistica into Guitarra de Angel, but only got a two count. Ishimori would hit a jumping knee strike before trying for Bloody Cross once again, only to take a punch across the jaw. Pinche Loco was blocked into the La Mistica, with Ishimori going right into the Yes! Lock.
Desperado would roll to the ropes before again looking for Pinche Loco. Ishimori blocked into a hurricanrana – before Numero Dos would be attempted. El Desperado would be able to apply the dangerous submission hold, but Ishimori used his power to turn this into a Cobra Twist.
Desperado turned this into a Bastard Driver, for a two count. Double Pinche Loco was attempted, with Ishimori countering the second into Bone Lock. With no options left, Taiji Ishimori would get Desperado to tap out – and we have a new champion!
