Stephanie McMahon is stepping away from her WWE front office position as the chief brand officer to focus on her family. The news broke Friday, May 20, 2022, and she says it simply be a “leave of absence.” McMahon would make the announcement on Twitter stating:
As of tomorrow, I am taking a leave of absence from the majority of my responsibilities at WWE. WWE is a lifelong legacy for me and I look forward to returning to the company that I love after taking this time to focus on my family.

Stephanie McMahon Is Stepping Away from Her WWE Executive Role to Focus on Her Family
It was a surprise for many fans and observers as Stephanie has held the position since 2013 after working as executive vice president of Creative in 2007. She also pushed several initiatives that improved the company’s public image and social media presence.
Among these are the WWE app, a partnership with the USO to provide entertainment for soldiers overseas, working with Yahoo, getting in early with the failed Tout platform, and the company’s anti-bullying campaign.
The 45-year-old’s role as chief brand officer is more of a focused role for her as she was doing a lot of the public relations and brand stuff while in Creative.
Stephanie played a major role in WWE’s expansion during the PG Era into the present by actually having advertising for the drastically revamped women’s division and picking up more lucrative business partners and sponsors for the present product.
McMahon didn’t specify what prompted this but “focus on my family” is generally enough that no one would poke or prod too much. Her temporary departure was met with support. It’s also unknown what duties she will continue to do while away from the front office.
We’ll have to wait and see when Stephanie McMahon will return to WWE HQ in a full-time capacity.
