Canelo Alvarez is the best pound-for-pound boxer at the moment and he claims he would fight Jake Paul! Alvarez’s professional record sits at 57-1-2 out of which 39 bouts are finished with a knockout.
He is popular for his brute force and fearless fighting style. At one point in his career, he says: “I like the idea of being undisputed at 175. I’ll fight everybody.” – And by the looks of it, he most certainly will.
Jake Paul Will Fight Canelo Alvarez
Lately, he announced that he is not excluding the option to even fight Jake Paul, the uprising boxing star and the famous YouTuber.
Jake Paul was present at the promotional boxing fight where Amanda Serrano faced Katie Taylor. He moves in those boxing circles so the public and his fellow boxers will see that he is active.
And this most certainly has shown to be effective. He attracted the attention of the pro boxer Canelo Alvarez who even puts hope that a fight between the two might be possible.
“I always wonder why everybody asks me about Jake Paul. Everybody’s interested especially in that fight. Maybe in two years, we could talk about that. Maybe my fans and followers would love me even more for knocking him out. I hope he gets a lot better and does a great job. I hope he takes it seriously.”
How should we understand this? Does the pro boxer think that Jake is not serious?
I mean yes, he started his career ‘by luck’, but, he has shown that he is capable of good performance. He hasn’t lost a fight until now. This most certainly is not enough for convincing Canelo to accept a fight, however, Jake’s popularity might ease the process of convincing.
“Everything is good for boxing, even everything that brings fans to this is good. Youtube, Vines, whatever it is. It’s not crazy for him to think about fighting me, to dream about something like that. You need to put goals in your mind, dreams. For now, I can say nothing more than it’s a good dream that he has. Whether it will come true… Maybe someday. We will see.”
On the other hand, for this fight to happen, the Youtuber has his own conditions as well. He won’t fight Canelo unconditionally.
“Look I would take the fight. Right now, I wouldn’t beat Canelo. Five fights from now, six fights from now, I would put on an awesome fucking fight and we’ll see what happens.” – Jake says and adds – “However, I want me versus Canelo to be my last fight.”
To be honest he has an interesting dream. To fight the best pound-for-pound boxer and retire after that. As for his confidence that he can win the fight – no comments on that. What do you think? Does Jake have a chance against Canelo?
