When Edge & AJ Styles clashed at WrestleMania 38, no one knew what to expect. We got a nasty brawl of a match, before Damien Priest would show up to distract Styles. Judgement Day has since been formed, and this new faction is starting to take over Monday Night RAW. Tonight, Styles gets his rematch with Edge – and was able to ensure that Priest was banned from ringside tonight, making this one on one. Even if anyone else shows up, Styles might be able to rely on Finn Balor for aid tonight.
Edge Continues To Target The Previously Injured Shoulder Of Styles
During the build to this match, Styles would suffer a potential injury to his left shoulder – something that Edge is sure to target in this match. They’d start off fast with some brawling strikes, with Styles forcing Edge into a corner. Edge would take a dropkick, and was forced to the outside – where Styles hit a dropkick through the ropes.
Asai Moonsault would follow, Edge being crushed underneath Styles. In the ring, he’d look for Phenomenal Forearm – but Edge got a big boot. The shoulder gave Styles some issues, and Edge slid Styles out of the ring and into the ring steps.
Edge would follow up with a slingshot, sending Styles into the ring post. Back in the ring, Edge hit an aggressive arm wrench, ripping Styles to the ring shoulder first. Styles tried to fight back, only to take yet another shoulder breaker – with Edge grabbing a tight hammerlock on the mat.
Styles was able to fight free and nail the Pele Kick, before getting Edge up for a big facebuster. Edge was placed on the top rope, before being driven down to the middle of the ring with a super hurricanrana. Ushigoroshi would follow, but Edge was able to kick out at two.
AJ Styles Gives The WWE Hall Of Famer One Helluva Fight
Styles would be taken down into a crossface, but was able to counter and apply the calf crusher. Edge would nearly tap out, but was able to slam the head of Styles off the mat to free himself for a moment. Styles latched the hold right back on, and Edge would lunge to the ropes to get freedom.
Styles would hit a German Suplex on Edge, who would expose the middle turnbuckle. Edge didn’t think Styles noticed, before being driven face first into the steel and rolled up for a two count. Styles would run into a spear from Edge but was able to kick out.
Edge rushed in for a second spear, only to catch a knee to the face. Styles used the ropes to set up a Styles Clash, and would get a near fall – mostly due to a slow pinfall. Damien Priest came down the ramp, technically staying away from ringside – and Finn Balor would rush him down from behind.
Suddenly a hooded figure pulled Styles down onto the top rope, before Edge applied a sleeper hold variant of crossface. This hooded figure was Rhea Ripley – the newest member of Judgement Day.
