Carmella & Zelina Vega have been WWE Women’s Tag Team Champions for a while now, but tonight have multiple top teams showing up to try and take them down. Team BAD is finding a second life with Sasha Banks teaming with Naomi. Rhea Ripley & Liv Morgan have come together as a powerful unit. Natalya & Shayna Baszler are powerful veterans. It’s a fatal four way tag team match, and that means Vega & Carmella don’t even have to be involved in the finish to lose tonight.
Sasha Banks Ends Wrestlemania Losing Streak, Claims Tag Team Gold With Naomi
Ripley would be keen to start this match, and would match up with Banks. A test of strength would see Ripley win out, before Banks would nearly apply Banks Statement. Morgan tagged in, before the champs would team up on Ripley. On the opposite side of the ring, Baszler & Natalya would attack Naomi.
Banks & Morgan would nail some dives, before Morgan nailed a facebuster in the ring. Natalya made the blind tag before stomping Morgan down. Baszler nailed a heavy knee strike, before going after the ankle of Morgan. Zelina hit the ring for a Code Red, before things would break down. Naomi would hit the rear view, Banks the backstabber, and Ripley was dropped with a superrana.
Zelina hit a moonsault on the floor, before Banks & Naomi hit a double Sole Food. Morgan & Ripley dropped two Tower of Doom situations in the corners, before Ripley nailed the Riptide with added Backstabber, before Banks made the save. Natalya hit a gutbuster before a knee strike from Baszler.
Morgan made the save, before a Hart Attack would be teased. Carmella got the blind tag, and nailed a superkick for a near fall. Banks would follow up a kick from Naomi with a Frog Splash, before Zelina made the save after Banks Statement was applied. A tag team glamslam/codebreaker would land, and Banks & Naomi claim gold! Not only that, but this is the first time Sasha Banks has won a match at Wrestlemania!
The Rated R-Superstar vs. The Phenomenal One
Ever since Edge made his return to WWE in the 2020 Royal Rumble and injured AJ Styles with a spear, fans have wanted to see them clash. What could have been a battle of respect, instead pulled out the dark side of Edge.
This is not the determined grizzled veteran Edge that we’ve seen since his return, but rather the ultimate opportunist. Edge wants to bring out the fighter on Styles as well, and we could see the best version of both men in the match tonight. Earlier today on The Bump, AJ Styles would apologise to WWE fans for what they will see him do tonight.
Edge would rise up with a throne of fire, before walking down to the ring – looking like a final boss. Styles would rush Edge as the bell rang, showing no fear. A dropkick would land, before a set of hip tosses. Styles would nail a leg kick, before taking a right hand from Edge. A spear was attempted, but Styles was able to dodge.
Edge was sent to the outside, and would try to sweep the legs of Styles – before taking a knee right to the face. Styles would slam the head of Edge into the steel steps, before the Springbaord 450 Splash got nothing but knees.
Having made the first mistake, Styles would be quickly overwhelmed. Edge would apply the Cobra Twist in the middle of the ring, nailing some elbow strikes along the way. A shoulder breaker would land, attacking the same shoulder that Edge injured the first time they met.
A Bitter Brawl From Two World Travelled Veterans
Edge would control the pace of the match, and do his best to keep Styles grounded. A wild blow from Styles would have Edge seeing stars, before Styles popped his shoulder back into place. Edge would dodge a charging Styles, and sent him face first into the turnbuckle. Styles would block a suplex attempt with one of his own, sending Edge into the turnbuckle.
Edge would be victim of some ground and pound, but was able to attack the left shoulder of Styles once again. STF would be applied, and as Styles went for the ropes – Edge moved into a crossface. The leg of Styles got the ropes and he’d roll to the apron before nailing One Final Beat.
Styles would head to the top rope, but Edge would catch him. Superplex was attempted, but Styles slipped out and nailed the Torture Rack Bomb for a two count. Edge responded with the Impaler DDT, before taking a German Suplex after a missed lariat. Calf Crusher would be applied, but Edge was able to counter out.
Edgeomatic would get a two count, before a slingshot powerbomb would get another near fall. Edge was wondering what it would take to drop Styles, before taking this one to the apron. A superplex onto the apron would leave neither man with an advantage.
Both men would get into the ring by the referee’s nine count, and Styles would nail the Springboard 450 Splash to the back of Edge. Edge would barely kick out, and dodged Phenomenal Forearm. He’d rush for a spear, but Styles leaped over him and nailed Styles Clash – somehow only getting one of the closest near falls of the weekend.
Phenomenal Forearm was set once again, before Damien Priest showed up at ringside. This was enough to distract Styles, and allow Edge to counter with a spear for the win!
What is Damien Priest to Edge? Are we seeing the birth of a new unholy union? Let us know what you think in the comment section down below.
