Chris Jericho & Ortiz were close allies for the bulk of the run of AEW, having been together in The Inner Circle. However, Jericho would recently turn his back on Ortiz when forming the Jericho Appreciation Society.
Now, they’re bitter enemies – and tonight, there’s more than bragging rights on the line in a singles match. These two will meet in a Hair vs. Hair match, with the loser getting their head shaved by the winner. Jericho has a perfect 2-0 record in Hair vs. Hair matches, and is 4-0 since forming the JAS.
Ortiz Wastes No Time Turning This Into A Fight
Ortiz would rush the ring and kick this match off with a hockey brawl against Jericho. He’d be taken to the mat, but blocked a lionsault with knees to the midsection. Ortiz would take this to the outside, and put him in the barbers chair for some downward punches.
Jericho would Flair Flop onto the floor, before being taken into the ring. A dropkick took Jericho off his feet, before Ortiz would bite the forehead of Jericho. Jericho would regain control before looking for a super hurricanrana, before Ortiz would counter into a powerbomb.
AEW Road Rager Results: Chris Jericho Defeats Ortiz In Hair vs. Hair Match Thanks To Sammy Guevara (06/15)
Diving Splash from Ortiz would get a two count, before Jericho slipped to the floor. Ortiz would look for the Tope Suicida, but Jericho blocked with a forearm smash. Jericho would set up and hit the suplex off the apron, neither man feeling good after the impact. Back in the ring, Jericho would hit a backdrop, before a cocky pinfall for a one count.
Ortiz fought back to his feet, but would be nailed with a well placed dropkick. On the floor, the Jericho Appreciation Society would attack Ortiz as the referee was more concerned with Eddie Kingston – who ran the JAS off with a steel chair. Back in the ring, Jericho hit a delayed vertical suplex, before flaunting his hair.
Sammy Guevara Rejoins Chris Jericho
Ortiz would hit a wild lariat, before taking a boot to the face. Jericho would head to the top rope, but was caught with a punch before the Tower Of London cutter. Ortiz got the two count, before a snap DDT in the middle of the ring.
Jericho fired back with the Codebreaker, only to get a two count. He was getting flustered with being unable to take Ortiz out, before blocking a hurricanrana into Walls Of Jericho. Ortiz got the ropes, as Wheeler Yuta, Santana & Eddie Kingston would brawl with the JAS. Kingston slipped into the ring and hit the Uraken – but Ortiz only got a two count.
Fuego Del Sol would hit the ring with the bat of Jericho, cracking Ortiz across the head – ending this match! Fuego must have been paid off, and possibly has just joined the Jericho Appreciation Society – EXCEPT IT WAS SAMMY GUEVARA – BACK WITH JERICHO!
Ortiz would still have to have his head shaved, and the crowd would chant “Sammy Sucks”. He’d grab the clippers himself, and cut his own hair – taking this on the chin and winning fans over showing some honor. Ortiz is a man of his word, and would chant Blood & Guts while shaving his own head.
