During the Owen Hart Memorial Cup, one of the biggest matches in the women’s bracket would see Britt Baker defeat AEW newcomer Toni Storm. That was far from the end of their issues with each other, and tonight on AEW Dynamite – we got the highly anticipated rematch. It’s Storm vs. Baker II, and perhaps a must win match for Storm if she wants to take aim at becoming the AEW Women’s World Champion.
An opening strike exchange saw Baker sent to the floor by Storm, before Storm was hit off the ring post. Baker would get yanked down onto the apron before taking a chop. Back into the ring, Storm hit a diving crossbody into the deep cover for a two count. Rebel would distract the referee as Hayter yanked Storm out of the ring.
AEW Road Rager Results: Toni Storm Defeats Britt Baker, IWGP World Heavyweight Champion Jay White Shuts Down Challenges From Hangman Page AND Adam Cole (06/15)
AEW Women’s World Champion Thunder Rosa would run Hayter off from the ringside area. Baker would hit the Slingblade in the ring, before applying the abdominal stretch on Storm in the middle of the ring. Butterfly Suplex would get a two count, before Baker would choke Storm in the corner.
Storm fought back with a set up tornado DDT’s, first in the ring and next on the floor. German Suplex in the ring would get a third impact on the head of Baker, before a running hip attack rattled the good doctor. Baker would play opossum and get an inside cradle for a two count, before a snap neckbreaker.
Lockjaw was signalled, but Storm blocked into a German Suplex before Storm Zero piledriver for the clean victory.
Jay White Is Here
Since losing his AEW World Championship, Hangman Page has been a little bit on the lost side. However, he recently called out the IWGP World Heavyweight Champion for Forbidden Door. He wanted Okada, but Jay White is now champion.
Page would reiterate that he wants Okada, but wanted to challenge him for the IWGP World Heavyweight Champion. However, he forgot Jay White had a title shot, and Page watched that match. The sentiment remains the same, and Page still wants Okada.
Adam Cole would strut to the ramp and say he should challenge Jay White at Forbidden Door. BULLET CLUB vs. Undisputed Elite. Cole would also say Okada won’t even make Forbidden Door, but the IWGP World Heavyweight Champion is in the building.
He’d sneak up on Page, nail the Blade Runner and grab the mic. White told everyone just who the hell he is – and asked who Page thinks he is calling shots. Page is a man who lost to CM Punk, lost the belt, and is a 0-2 record against White. If White is putting that belt on the line at Forbidden Door, it’s not against either Page or Cole. White holds the belt, and the power, and the world breathes with the Switchblade.
