Former IWGP Tag Team Champions Bishamon were a last minute addition to the card of Forbidden Door, though Hirooki Goto had a chance to main event had he defeated Hiroshi Tanahashi to face Jon Moxley tonight. Instead, they’re here on the Buy-In, wrestling two members of The Factory. QT Marshall & Aaron Solo would step up, and tonight will look to prove maybe they can be tag team champions someday soon.
Bishamon Kick Off Forbidden Door With A Win For NJPW
YOSHI-HASHI would start up with Aaron Solo, and stood his ground after a quick dropkick before rushing him down with a shoulder tackle. Marshall & Goto would get tags, and Goto was able to easily strike Marshall down – and Solo would get the quick tag. Solo would send YOSHI-HASHI off the apron, before Marshall hit a cheap strike on Goto.
Bishamon would take the ring together, beating down both Solo & Marshall with their tag team offence. YOSHI-HASHI was sent to the floor, and Marshall hit the QT Special. Goto would be hit with the diving double stomp in the ring, but only got a two count.
The Factory would press the advantage in the ring, before Goto would hit the vertical suplex. YOSHI-HASHI hit the back body drop, before a flying blockbuster. Solo would sent Bishamon to the floor, before hitting the dive over the top rope. Marshall called for the Diamond Cutter, and would hit YOSHI-HASHI – but Goto broke the pinfall up.
450 Splash from Marshall would miss, and Bishamon nailed him with the Ushigoroshi, before hitting Shoto for the win on Solo. A solid tag team match, and perhaps an argument for Solo & Marshall in the World Tag League later this year.
Lance Archer Puts The A-Block On Notice As He Slays Nick Comoroto
Ahead of returning to NJPW for the G1 Climax, Lance Archer will represent NJPW here tonight as he faces Nick Comoroto of The Factory. These are two proper heavyweights, and they’re gonna clash on the buy-in. Should Comoroto get the win here, he could give some discussion that maybe he belongs in the G1 instead.
Archer would cannonball his way into the ring, before hitting an overhand chop in the corner. Comoroto dodged the second, before the elbow to the jaw. A big boot to the jaw would follow, before Comoroto sent Archer to the apron and flying to the barricade.
Back in the ring, a powerslam got a one count, before Comoroto followed with a backbreaker. Archer would fire up after some heavy strikes, and hit a sit-out chokeslam. Both men would trade forearm smashes, neither man keen on stepping down.
Archer would walk the top rope before a moonsault landed. Blackout was set, but Comoroto blocked into a powerslam. Archer hit a rising knee strike, and Blackout would land to end this hard hitting fight.
Swerve In Our Glory Get Pushed Hard By Suzuki-gun
We’ve had some issues from Swerve In Our Glory lately, stemming from Swerve Strickland eliminating Keith Lee from the Battle Royale to determine who would have a chance to main event Forbidden Door. Add in calling Lee dead weight on Twitter, and you had a tag team on the verge of breaking up. Tonight however, they need to get on the same page as they will face Yoshinobu Kanemaru & El Desperado of Suzuki-gun.
Kanemaru took the second rope for the test of strength before kicking Lee and trying for the Deep Impact. He’d kick at the knee of Lee, before Swerve would get the tag. Desperado would get the tag, and would match the agility of Swerve and nearly got Numero Dos.
Swerve would send Desperado to the floor to look for the Pump Kick, but would be caught into the Numero Dos leg lock. Back in the ring, Desperado would cause Swerve to hit the dropkick on Lee, before Lee would have his knee attacked.
Kanemaru would double down on the knees, as commentary explained he was the one who took Ishii off the card tonight. Desperado & Kanemaru would work together to hit the DDT on Lee, but Lee would get the tag. Swerve hit the brainbuster for a two count, before being planted with the spinebuster of Desperado.
They’d trade blows in the middle of the ring, before Kanemaru and Lee got tags. Lee was locked in the Figure Four, but Swerve helped him free. Swerve In Our Glory would look for the finish, but Suzuki-gun would stop this. Suntory surprise and roll up followed, only getting two. Lee would hit the Big Bang Catastrophe for the win.
Ass Boys Think They’re In Japan
Would it really be NJPW vs. AEW without an undercard tag team match featuring some Young Lions? Really, The Gunn Club are akin to the LA Dojo students, having learned from their legendary father Billy Gunn, while the LA Dojo students learn from Katsuyori Shibata. Shibata is absent from tonight’s match, but Billy, Austin & Colton Gunn will team with Max Caster to take on Alex Coughlin, Kevin Knight, The DKC & Yuya Uemura here tonight.
After a pre-match rap, the Ass-Boys not knowing where they are, and Daddy Ass scissoring with Bowens – this one began. Danhausen would appear, and gave a gift – a new custom theme song for Ass Boys. Colton & Austin went after Danhausen, and it was four on one. Coughlin would toss Billy Gunn, before Knight would punch away at Caster.
Uemura would hit a double splash with Knight for a two count, before Caster fought his way out of the LA Dojo corner. The DKC would hit some chops on Caster, before Billy finally got in this match. He’d hit big boots before Knight nailed the dropkick. Tilt-A-Whirl slam and One & Only would land, before Fame Asser & Mic Drop on DKC for the win!
Will the main card keep up the match quality of the pre-show? Let us know what you think in the comment section down below.
