Retired boxer and former European kickboxing champion Julius Francis said he’d be up for facing Mike Tyson again. Recently, the former WBO Inter-Continental Heavyweight champion has experienced some new fame in the viral age as a video of him knocking out a man took off online.
Former British Boxer Julius Francis Is Up for Round 2 with Mike Tyson – Jake and Logan Paul Not in His Category
The 57-year-old spoke with TMZ about the viral video where he was working as a security guard at BOXPARK Wembley on June 18, 2022, and had to deal with an aggressive person who was causing a scene. In that video you can see Francis trying to get through the crowd and get in position just in case it becomes violent.
Once he managed to get to the street, the man walked up to Julius Francis. At that point, the veteran pugilist laid him out spread-eagle with a one-hitter quitter. Dig the bystander video below.

When the topic of coming out of retirement came up, he was open to it if a promoter wanted to run it and a decent offer came through. With the popularity of Triller Fight Club, Francis noted that people tell him he should fight Jake or Logan Paul all the time. After all, the payoff would be juicy with the level promotion Triller does and just to see if Logan eats it in an exhibition.
However, Julius Francis isn’t particularly interested in facing them. In a bit of “one final duel” action, he would want to face Mike Tyson. The last time they fought was in January 2000 with Francis coming in 21-7 and Tyson having a 46-3-1 record. In that fight, Francis was spanked, losing by KO in the second round.
The fight could be seen as the end of any resurgence for his professional career as he never managed to get a winning streak going after it—he came in with three consecutive wins before the Tyson bout. From April 2003 onward, Francis lost fight after fight until his retirement in 2006 after thirteen years in the sport.
On facing Tyson, Julius Francis told TMZ:
“I’m going to put it out there. I’m going to say, ‘Yes. Yes, we can have a rematch.’ I don’t know if anybody will watch it, but I’m going to say, ‘Yes.'”
In the aftermath of the viral NyQuil knockout, he gained a lot of support online and was cleared of any wrongdoing by the metropolitan police. However, he is currently working to get his security license reinstated.
