The careers of FTR have been really soaring to new highs recently. They’re double tag team champions, holding both the AAA & ROH World Tag Team Championships, and are potentially going to meet the reigning IWGP World Tag Team Championships at Forbidden Door. However, despite all their tag team championship victories, being managed by Bret Hart for a single match on the indies was perhaps the best moment of their careers.
Being Managed By Bret Hart Was An Easy Career Highlight
This match came at a Big Time Wrestling show, as they faced two other AEW stars in Brian Pillman Jr. and Brock Anderson. It was a simple match, but Dax Harwood would say the following about getting to work with Hart in their corner during a recent interview with Sports Illustrated.
“I know who I am. I don’t have the total package—I’m not tall, I don’t have the body, I have a southern accent. Overcoming all those odds and getting to perform with my hero—not just my favourite wrestler, but my lifetime hero—it was the greatest night of my career. If you saw me smiling, it’s because I couldn’t hide that look on my face.”
This moment would also get harwood thinking of the time when Vince McMahon called them ‘just professional wrestlers’, which they took as a compliment – regardless of how Vince meant it.
“That night, in the ring, I was thinking about the moment and how much it meant to me. I thought about all the WrestleManias we’ve worked, all the titles we’ve won, all the towns we’ve travelled. I was hit with this thought. It was from a night we wrestled in WWE, and waiting in Gorilla for us after the match was Vince McMahon. He had his hands in his pockets and said to us, ‘Everyone says you’re the next great tag team. But you know what I see? The problem with you guys is you’re just professional wrestlers.’ That night in the ring, standing next to Bret, I thought to myself, ‘Damn right, I’m a professional wrestler. I’m a great professional wrestler, and look at where my life is right now.’”
Another Big Night Incoming For Dax Harwood In AEW
Later tonight, Dax Harwood will wrestle in singles action on AEW Dynamite. He is set to wrestle the reigning IWGP United States Champion, Will Ospreay. Ospreay won the vacant belt this past Sunday at NJPW Dominion. Will Harwood be able to get his biggest singles win to date? Let us know what you think in the comment section down below.
