With WWE making so many seemingly questionable decisions lately, it’s hard to find something positive in what they’re doing or planning, but hiring Jeff Jarrett looks like their best move of late.
Jeff Jarrett has earned a reputation as being able to get deals done where it should’ve been impossible, and his signing seemed to put him in position to make the impossible possible.
As the Senior Vice President of Live Events, Jarrett is basically in charge of promoting WWE live events, which include house shows and Raw and Smackdown.
He talked about his return to the WWE on his My World With Jeff Jarret podcast (https://cumuluspodcastnetwork.com/pods/my-world-with-jeff-jarrett/).
“I’ll leave it personal. What’s been stated, SVP of Live Events, my passion is in live events. I’ll leave it right there. It’s going to be a journey that I’m excited about. As it all comes together, you know what this means, I’m so ready for year two (of the podcast).”
Jim Cornette backs the decision
Jim Cornette is known for sharing his honest opinion without drawing it out, and on his podcast, Jim Cornette’s Drive Thru, he shared his opinion and his thoughts on what Jarrett will bring to the WWE.
“Jeff Jarrett has been named – and rightfully so – and this is probably the most brilliant thing that they’ve done in a long time, Jeff Jarrett has been named the Senior Vice President of Live Events.
“He is in charge now of promoting – and live events, folks, remember that takes into account the television tapings also because TV tapings are live events in the place that they’re happening. Who better, who else in the world today has not only still the passion for it and the love for it, but the knowledge of it to be able to promote live wrestling events.
“With Jeff, who has more experience probably anybody, not only the companies he started but growing up in the business and all the other things that he’s into because he’s got that drive, whether it be the minor league baseball or whatever the f—. He talks to people, he finds ways to put s— together.
“If he can assemble his own team or whip some of them into shape, I would suggest to you that, regardless of whether the s— product gets any better or not, they’ll have a lot more people in the buildings.”
We don’t know exactly what Double J started working his magic, but the last couple of weeks WWE crowds at Raw and Smackdown have appeared fuller on TV, and a lot more vocal instead of the pipped in cheers we’ve grown accustomed to hearing.
It looks like his influence is already being felt, and if Raw and Smackdown can lift themselves above the house show level they’ve been at for the last few years, the WWE could return to its former glory.
