The Duke and Duchess of Sussex have released a photo of their daughter, Lilibet, as she celebrated her first birthday at Frogmore Cottage. The tot has rarely been seen in photos, and she shows a striking resemblance to her father and even has his signature red locks.
The happy toddler was seen sitting in the grass of the Windsor property while donning a blue dress with a white bow in her hair. The special occasion was described as an ‘intimate backyard picnic’ and reportedly consisted of balloons, face painting, and a beautiful birthday cake. While it’s very likely that certain members of the royal family were in attendance, it remains unclear exactly who was at the birthday bash.
Prince Harry and Meghan Markle Release Photo Of Daughter Lilibet On First Birthday
A spokesperson for Harry and Meghan gave further details of the shindig, saying, “It was such a privilege to celebrate the 1st birthday of Lilibet with my family and hers! Joy and face painting all around.” Lilibet received many generous gifts, including a pink Volkswagen Beetle ride-on car and a $100,000 donation to charity in her name. It is also widely speculated that Prince Charles gifted her with a swing much like the one he gave to a young Prince George.
Queen Elizabeth II, who had met her great-granddaughter for the first time over the course of her Platinum Jubilee weekend, may have been present at Lilibet’s party but many have claimed that she had banned any photos being taken of her with Harry and Meghan’s baby. This is likely because the Duke and Duchess of Sussex have been accused of trying to exploit the Queen for their own personal gain, and they have been toting around with a Netflix film crew trying to capture footage that will help them gain public favor.
“Meghan must have been furious when she heard that photographs of their Windsor meeting were forbidden. Banned from the balcony for Trooping the Colour, no shot of her with the Queen in St Paul’s and then the final blow was no shot of Lilibet with her great-grandmother. Finally, the Palace is playing a good hand,” said a source. “The Sussexes’ contract with Netflix is in jeopardy. The veto of photos will fuel the Sussexes’ resentment. Harry’s reprisal could be more revelations in his book billed to be published later this year. This is a dangerous game for both sides”.
In addition to the color photo of Lilibet on the lawn of Frogmore Cottage, the only other photo of the birthday girl released to the public was a black and white snapshot of Lilibet being held by Meghan Markle while standing alongside photographer Misan Harriman’s wife Camilla Holmstroem and their two daughters. There were no photos of Harry or even their eldest son Archie that have been shared as of yet.
