Prince Harry and Meghan Markle’s attempt to reconcile with the Royal family were ultimately futile.
Harry And Meghan Attended The Platinum Jubilee To ‘Mend Fences And Ran Into A Brick Wall’
That is according to Royal expert Christopher Andersen. This claim arrives on the back end of how the couple were received in the UK. They were forced to watch Queen Elizabeth’s birthday parade from the sidelines, as opposed to the palace balcony.
In addition, their interactions with other members of the Royal family were limited. In addition, their appearance at the ‘Service of Thanksgiving’ at St Paul’s Cathedral did not go without a hitch.
Prince Harry and Meghan Markle sat opposite Prince William and Kate Middleton, but The Duke of Cambridge reportedly refused to make eye contact with his brother. This was all done in the absence of the Queen Elizabeth, who was not at the service due to ‘discomfort.’
As a result, any attempts to bridge the gap failed. In an interview with Us Weekly, Christopher said: “They went there hoping to mend fences and ran into a brick wall.”
And yet, Christopher’s comments tell us something else too. The couple had been absent from the UK for two years, so the lack of enthusiasm for their visit should not have come as a shock.
And this was summed up when they were booed when exiting the ‘Service of Thanksgiving.’ Despite that being the case, Christopher was of the view that Harry would have expected an olive branch.
He added: “I thought that there would be an opportunity for [Harry] to show up there to show solidarity [and] the future of the monarchy…I’m sure they expected to have a warmer welcome than what they received.”
The fans on social media were not surprised by the welcome Harry received. After all, The Duke and Duchess of Sussex had spoken out against The Royal family and Kate Middleton especially in front of the whole media during his Oprah Winfrey interview.
Thus, he had nobody to blame but himself. One person wrote: “After the hateful interview they gave…did he really think they would be welcomed back with open arms? He is not right in his mind, is he?”
