Right now in AEW, one of the biggest factions is Blackpool Combat Club. With William Regal as the brains, Jon Moxley & Bryan Danielson as the established stars, and Wheeler Yuta as their trainee – they have as solid a foundation as a faction could ever ask for. But the question with factions is always how long can they last, and William Regal thinks this group could last forever.
William Regal Feels Blackpool Combat Club Could Be The Greatest Thing He Will Ever Be Involved With
While speaking to Brandon Walker on the ‘Wrasslin’ podcast, William Regal would explain how Blackpool Combat Club is still just getting started. Regal would be quoted saying the following.
“We’re getting into about ten weeks now and I haven’t had time to process. We haven’t even started – we haven’t even scratched the surface. This can go on for a long, long time, we could have breaks away from each other but keep coming back. It’s working quite well at the moment because it’s not even established properly yet. It is, but it isn’t.
Some acts will have run out after ten weeks. It’s just the beginning. It could still be just the beginning after a year. Some acts, and I’ve been around plenty of storylines, they never lasted ten weeks. You couldn’t drag them out for ten weeks with the best people in them. This hasn’t even started making an indent yet or going where it could possibly go. It’s probably the greatest thing I’ll ever going to be involved in.”
Already Showing That The Faction Allows For Talent To Travel The World Without Issues
Right now, Blackpool Combat Club is currently mixed up in a feud with Jericho Appreciation Society. Jon Moxley came to the aid of Eddie Kingston, and pulled Bryan Danielson into the mix. Now with Blood & Guts incoming, with Moxley & Kingston uniting again – and Danielson not someone to ignore a chance for violence? That will continue.
However, Moxley is also on the way to potentially claiming the AEW Interim World Championship, as he faces the winner of the Casino Battle Royale tonight for a chance to advance to Forbidden Door. Meanwhile, Wheeler Yuta just finished up a tour of Japan, where he managed a 5-4 record in the Best of the Super Juniors Tournament.
This amount of fluidity in the faction is something that will give them the insane longevity that Regal craves. Members can go wrestle around the world, improve their skills, and return to be even better. They can chase world championships, and even come to blows – all in the name of improvement.
