In a shocker of sorts, Paige announced that she’s leaving the WWE on July 7 as the WWE isn’t going to renew her contract.
What’s curious about this is many fans didn’t even know she was still with the WWE.
After the decree that talent had to hand over control and a percentage of their earned income from third party sites, Paige gave an emotional statement and changed her Twitch profile to SarayaOfficial, removing WWE from her name.
Because of this, many thought she chose to leave the WWE, though she did at one point say she was still under contract, and recently she announced she’s also cleared to compete in the ring again.
WWE didn’t want to retain her
While the news about her leaving WWE and able to return to the ring has been a mixed blessing for many, she took to her Twitch channel to further elaborate on the situation as she said her goodbyes to the WWE.
On her stream, she said they decided not to resign her and that she knew this moment was coming, so when the WWE called her about their decision she was ready.
Still, she would’ve liked to stay, but understands it’s a business and has no hard feelings.
Paige said: “It is what it is. I’m not leaving because I want to, they just don’t want to re-sign my contract. I completely understand.”
The good news for fans is that she doesn’t have a Non-Compete clause since her contract is ending and she wasn’t released. It’s a similar to Daniel Bryan when he left.
So, she can sign anywhere as soon as her contract ends, and that’s got some fans talking about where she could go.
Moving on
Paige made sure to point out that the WWE helped her outside of the ring by getting her a therapist when she was battling an alcohol addiction and continued to pay her after her neck injury and surgery.
She feels like she has a lot to give in the ring and a new WWE contract wouldn’t have included an in ring return.
So, this brings to the fore the question every fan is wondering: AEW or Impact Wrestling?
There are other alternatives like CYN and so on, so there’s no shortage of possibilities.
While we think she may be better off creatively in Impact where the roster isn’t as bloated as AEW, EC3’s Control Your Narrative feels like the better fit given their rules and focus on characters.
