Right now, we’re on the build to one of the biggest crossover shows in years. All Elite Wrestling & New Japan Pro Wrestling have sold out the United Center in Chicago, and now the card for Forbidden Door is starting to take form. We got confirmation of Hiroshi Tanahashi vs. Jon Moxley for the Interim AEW World Championship, and are on the path to Jay White vs. Hangman Page for the IWGP World Heavyweight Championship. However, a lot of interest lies on Bryan Danielson – and his opponent might now be clear.
Zack Sabre Jr. Wants To Prove He’s The Best Technical Wrestler In The World Against Bryan Danielson
During backstage comments following his match at Dominion 6.12 earlier tonight, Zack Sabre Jr. would call Bryan Danielson out for a match. ZSJ would have the following to say.
“American Dragon, can you take some time out of your busy golfing schedule at the Blackpool Country Club to find out who the best technical wrestler in the world is? But I’ll tell you now, darling, it’s fucking me.”
You really can’t get more clear of a challenge than that, and Danielson has expressed interest in wrestling ZSJ again. During a recent interview with Sports Illustrated, Danielson said the following about ZSJ.
“I’m thinking about Zack Sabre Jr. and wrestling him to see who is the best technical wrestler in the world. We have two very different styles of technical wrestling. We wrestled in 2008, and he was just a kid, but I was super impressed with him then. He’s grown into this amazing wrestler, and I don’t ever recall seeing anyone wrestle with his technique.”
Since 2004, only Danielson & ZSJ have claimed the Bryan Danielson/Best Technical Wrestler Award in the Wrestling Observer Newsletter awards. Danielson had won the award every single year from 2005 until 2013. The award was named after him in 2013, and ZSJ proceeded to win the award consecutively from 2014 until 2020. Danielson then claimed the award for a tenth time last year. It’s highly likely one of them will claim it again in 2022.
