Last week, Ricky Starks would defeat Cole Karter in an open challenge for the FTW Championship. After that, he would claim to be ready for another match – only to avoid the challenge of Danhausen. Tonight, he will have to defend against Danhausen.
Before this match would kick off, we’d get confirmation that the AEW Trio’s Championships are finally real – and the first champions will be crowned at All Out! This is massive, considering how many trios are available in AEW… including one who started the company.
Ricky Starks Drops The FTW Championship – Powerhouse Hobbs Steals His Moment!
Danhausen was dressed to compete here tonight, but would still try to curse the champion – before stealing his signature pose… and taking a boot to the face. Starks took a pump kick and Northern Lights Suplex, before Danhausen would avoid the spear and get a roll up for a two count. Danhausen would be sliced down with the second attempt at the spear – and would remain champion.
Starks would signal for the microphone, and said he’s got more in the tank – and would call for another challenger to step up right now. The music of HOOK would hit, and he was dressed to compete. HOOK is the son of Taz, and the FTW Championship is practically his birthright. Starks helped to train HOOK, and tonight – could claim gold in his Dynamite debut!
Donning the orange trunks, HOOK was quick to unload some fast body shots to the chest of Starks – before a drop step into a massive suplex. Starks would respond with a suplex of his own, before blocking a hip toss – and getting cut down with the spear. Roshambo would be set, but HOOK blocked into REDRUM – and would get the submission.
It was all respect between HOOK & Starks after the match. He got caught, and there’s no shame in losing to the fastest rising star in all of AEW. After the match, Starks had some interview time – and while he lost? That’s fine. Starks wants everything to know he made the FTW Championship matter, he brought it back to prominence. Turned leather and metal into gold.
Starks is tired of waiting for his time – so he’s taking it. However, Powerhouse Hobbs wants his moment – and would whack Starks with a lariat and massive spinebuster. What this means for the future of Team Taz is unclear. Even Taz doesn’t know!
Sammy Guevara Claims The Victory
Sammy Guevara was crucial in helping Chris Jericho to defeat Eddie Kingston in a barbed wire everywhere match last week. Tonight, he’s back in the ring – as he takes on perhaps the only man who can rival his speed. Dante Martin has been steadily improving in the ring, and tonight could get the biggest win of his career over a former TNT Champion. To off-set the advantage of Tay Conti at ringside, Martin is bringing Skye Blue to ensure this one doesn’t go off the rails.
Martin would match the speed of Guevara, before nailing a dropkick and mocking this taunt. Guevara was sent to the floor, but Martin would fake him out with the dive – instead hitting an instant springboard moonsault into the ring and landing on his feet. Guevara tried to run away, but Martin chased him down – and hit a massive dive off the ramp.
Skye Blue got a kiss on the cheek from Martin – but back in the ring, Guevara would use the ropes for a low blow before chucking him shoulder first into the ring post. Martin would launch Guevara to the outside, before leaping into a jumping knee strike. Spanish Fly back in the ring would get the two count.
Martin would flip over Guevara before a facebuster, getting a near fall of his own. Guevara went for a super backdrop, but Martin landed on his feet before a massive spanish fly. Nose Dive was blocked by the double cutter, before the GTH for the finish. After the bell, Ruby Soho, Ortiz & Eddie Kingston would save Martin from more damage.
