Serena Deeb made her intentions very clear this past Friday on AEW Rampage, when she attacked Mercedes Martinez. They will meet for the ROH Women’s World Championship at Death Before Dishonour, but Deeb would be wise to not look past her challenger tonight at Fyter Fest. Representing The Dark Order, Anna Jay steps into the ring tonight, to try and slay The Professor.
Is HOOK Ready To Chase Gold?
Before this match, Lexy Nair would catch up with HOOK – who was asked if a title shot is in his future with the undefeated record. HOOK would scoff at this, and walk away looking unimpressed. We’ll take that as a strong maybe. With Wardlow as TNT Champion, it will take someone with the natural skill of HOOK to defeat him – but it might be too soon to be chasing gold.
Right now, HOOK has a 11-0 record in AEW, but the biggest names he’s beaten are JD Drake & QT Marshall. Potential is one thing, and big name wins are another entirely. There was recently some talks between Taz & Will Ospreay about bringing HOOK to Japan as a member of The United Empire faction, which might well be what it takes to get HOOK to the level of a potential champion.
We’d catch up with Thunder Rosa – who would recently drop a match to Miyu Yamashita. Yamashita is coming to America for a title shot, but Rosa is keen on continuing some tag team success with Toni Storm. The ThunderStorm is a mess, and Britt Baker & Jamie Hayter are ready to deal with the storm – and could be on their way to a tag team match.
Serena Deeb Takes Anna Jay To School
Deeb would hit the ring with the usual intensity, as Anna Jay got a great reaction from the hometown crowd – including her parents. Jay would be taken to the mat for a Gedo Clutch, but was able to break free. Deeb would apply the side headlock, and Jay broke free.
Flatliner would drop Deeb, before a running neckbreaker. She’d boot Deeb into the corner, but lost control before being taken into the Koji Clutch. Ropes would get her free, and Jay would look to apply the Queenslayer. Deeb would get the ropes and hit the jawbreaker, before a twisting neckbreaker for two.
Jay would slip to the floor, and Deeb teased the crowd into thinking they’d see a big dive. In front of the parents of Jay, instead Deeb would hit some hard strikes and poke the eyes. Back in the ring, Deeb would apply the Bulldog Choke – before Jay would slip to the aprion – and was dropped with a neckbreaker. Deeb applied the double arm clutch, before it was turned into a backstabber. Jay would fire up and hit the flying forearm smash, before a release Northern Lights Suplex.
Deeb would set up the Deebtox after making Jay dizzy, but was unable to slam her down. Jay would be locked into a unique submission, but blocked into a pinfall. A kick to the head, was followed by the Queenslayer, but Deeb was able to hold on. Serenity Lock was applied, and this one was over.
