AEW recently added a new men’s singles championship to their programming, with the first ever AEW All Atlantic Champion being named at Forbidden Door. On that night, AEW mainstay and Death Triangle member PAC would defeat Miro, Clark Connors, and Malakai Black to become champion. While PAC is back in the UK, he recently made his first defense as champion overseas – and AEW will see this match on Tuesday.
PAC Successfully Defends Belt In The UK, Match To Be Shown On AEW Dark
During a show for Revolution Pro Wrestling, PAC was successful in defeating the protege of Jon Moxley – Shota Umino. He’d win via submission, and for fans who weren’t in Sheffield to see it live – AEW will air the entire match on AEW Dark. This sets the tone for this championship going forward, as it can be defended around the world – and used to boost the appeal of shows like AEW Dark.
AEW To Air All-Atlantic Championship Match On AEW Dark
Now, we know the next defense for the reign of PAC – as he will defend against LJ Cleary in Ireland. This will be during the Over The Top Wrestling Poetry Slam event. We can assume that this match will be shown on the July 26th episode of AEW Dark or the July 25th episode of Dark: Elevation.
This match with Cleary was announced before today, but was unclear if PAC would still be champion for it. PAC was originally set to face Cleary during OTT’s Scrappermania 6 event, which was cancelled during the COVID-19 pandemic.
This direction for the AEW All Atlantic Championship is an excellent idea, and really helps it to stand out next to the AEW World & TNT Championships. A belt defended all around the world is an excellent idea, and opens the door for many names to get shown on AEW programming. It is also a way for AEW to scout talent from all corners of the world.
