This summer has not been a great one for AEW, mainly due to a load of injuries. The likes of CM Punk, Bryan Danielson, and Adam Cole were all taken off TV due to injury – while Kenny Omega remains off TV since winter of 2021. This isn’t even counting some injuries to smaller stars, notably Darius Martin of Top Flight – who could be joined on the shelf by his brother, Dante Martin.
Dante Martin Was Spotted On Crutches Following Match With Sammy Guevara
PWInsider reported that Dante Martin suffered a knee injury during his match with Sammy Guevara on the latest episode of AEW Dynamite. Martin would be seen backstage and at the hotel with a set of crutches helping his mobility, but no formal injury report has been issued by AEW.
Dante Martin has been one of the more dependable names in the AEW midcard over the past two years, consistently able to have solid matches with anyone on the roster. He’d even challenge Hangman Page for the AEW World Championship on an episode of AEW Dynamite, the biggest match of his career thus far.
Originally brought into the company as a tag team wrestler alongside his brother Darius, injuries would halt the progress of Top Flight. Darius would return to action earlier this year after an ACL injury, before being involved in a car crash. We can only hope both brothers are able to make quick recoveries, enabling them to go after the AEW World Tag Team Championships – currently held by Swerve In Our Glory.
A Few Injury Returns Are Coming, With A Big One Teased
AEW will get a boost next week, as Adam Cole, Bobby Fish & Kyle O’Reilly all return from injury – ahead of the tournament to crown the first ever AEW Trio’s Champions. There have also been reports of Kenny Omega returning, setting up a match between The Elite & The Undisputed Era for All Out to crown the first champions.
Kenny Omega’s return would be just what AEW needs to break some stagnation in their ratings. He remains one of their biggest names, especially for those who have watched AEW since the companies inception.
