Elon Musk had filed a request to postpone the Twitter trial again, this time by only a week. He did this amidst rumors spreading about him being responsible for the divorce of his friend Sergey Brin, the Google co-founder.
A court filing on Tuesday states that the Tesla CEO and billionaire Elon Musk had requested for the $44 billion Twitter trial to be postponed by only a week. From October 10th, as initially requested by Twitter, to October 17th.
Elon Musk Begs The Judge To Postpone The Twitter Trial By A Week – He Claims Supernova Interest On Him And Promises To Lay Low
Musk’s legal team had sent an official letter to the court asking for the postponing, to ‘break the impasse to allow things to move forward promptly’.
Elon’s initial request was for the trial to take place in 2023, however, this was not approved by the judge. According to the court, this postponing of the trial will likely cause a further fall for the social media company.
The background of Elon’s request is that he feels that more time is needed for him and his team to investigate the fake/spam account percentage. This is the sole reason why he abandoned the deal. He thinks that fake accounts make up about 20% of all Twitter users, while the company claims that they are less than 5%.
From Twitter, they claim that there is no background for withdrawal from the deal only on this basis. They state that this is just an excuse to get away. According to the contract they signed, the transaction needs to be closed.
Judge Kathleen McCormick is the chief judge on the case. It is her ‘luck’ that she will take place in one of the biggest Wall Street trials in history. Her orders state that the court will start with work in October instead of January. By waving Elon’s request she had the win of the ‘first round’ delivered to Twitter.
In Musk’s letter to the court, he is also asking for Twitter to produce ‘core documents’ and file them to him as soon as possible. The raw data that he requests through court now, is the data he was requesting the whole time, since the beginning of the negotiations for obtaining the company.
The billionaire accuses the social media of ‘hiding’ their raw data. The reason behind it according to him is clear – the bots are more than 5% on the platform.
In any case, Elon has his hands full currently. While facing court problems, he welcomes new children, he is busy with keeping Tesla’s supply chain active, and lastly, he is the target of many controversial stories.
The most recent one is that he had an affair with the wife of one of his close friends, the ex-model Nicole Shanahan.
However, seems like he had enough of it. Musk tweeted that he is better off in the shadows since being in the limelight creates the conditions for many stories like this to pop up.
The billionaire denies all claims and posts a photo of him and his friend Brin at a party – allegedly taken just a day ago. Elon tweeted the photo as a reply to WSJ and wrote a caption ‘liar, liar pants on fire’.
This is just one of the numerous articles circling where the billionaire is the main topic for writing. And he apparently has had enough. He complains that the attention on him is ‘supernova’ and that he needs to lay low for some time, to avoid any further attention.
“The amount of attention on me has gone supernova, which super sucks. Unfortunately, even trivial articles about me generate a lot of clicks. Will try my best to be heads down focused on doing useful things for civilization.” – Elon’s tweet states.
BUT, Elon can deny as much as he wants, what is the actual truth?
The Wall Street Journal is standing behind its story 100%. They state that they have information that is completely true, and they do not have anything to lie about. They have a source that had backed up the claims. Nicole and Musk had ‘a fling’ in December last year. According to WSJ, Musk’s relationship with Brin has not been the same ever since.
“We are confident in our sourcing, and we stand by our reporting.” – the spokesman for the Wall Street Journal says.
Musk is a popular person, a celebrity f you will, and so his ‘movement’ cannot pass unnoticed. That’s why we know that he was in Mykonos last week and that he flew to Austin afterward. That he went to San Jose for a day, and then back to Austin in his home. In this tight schedule, it is highly unlikely that he found time to party.
At the moment there is still no information, or official statement from Google’s co-founder, Sergey Brin.
In January, he filed for divorce stating that the only reason for the split are the major differences between them.
“Because of the high profile nature of their relationship, there is likely to be a significant public interest in their dissolution case and any potential child custody issues.” – the filing for the divorce states.
The couple has one child. At the moment they remain silent on the rumors. Elon, on the other hand, has opened fire on the WSJ.
“WSJ should be running stories that actually matter to their readers and have solid factual basis, not third-party random hearsay. The character assassination attacks have reached a new level this year, but the articles are all nothing-burgers. I work crazy hours, so there just isn’t much time for shenanigans. None of the key people involved in these alleged wrongdoings were even interviewed! The real problem here is that Michael Siconolfi has zero journalistic integrity.” – Elon states.
