There have been reports that Netflix is worried about getting “scooped” and then wants the Docuseries that features Prince Harry and Meghan Markle to be premiered at the same time as “The Crown.”
In 2020, Prince Harry and his wife, Meghan Markle, signed a 20-million-dollar deal with Netflix to produce content for the streaming company. A year later, the couple’s production company, Archewell Productions, announced a project with Netflix. However, Pearl—which was supposed to be produced as an animated children’s series by Meghan—was canceled by the platform.
Netflix Worried About Getting “Scooped” and Wants The Sussexes Docuseries To Premiere Along With ‘The Crown’
Recently, it was reported that the Duke and Duchess of Sussex are filming a Docuseries in California and it will be filmed in the same style that Keeping Up With the Kardashians was filmed. It is expected that the series will feature the couple’s children—Archie and Lilibeth. In relation to the expected Docuseries, the couple have been seen surrounded by a Netflix filming crew on several occasions.
Now, it appears that the streaming platform wants the couple’s series released around the time the Royal family’s show—The Crown—would debut. A source reported that Netflix was pushing for the premiere because of Harry’s anticipated memoir, as Netflix was worried that they would get ‘scooped’ if they waited any longer.
Harry’s memoir doesn’t have many details regarding its title, cover image, or launch date. However, the book has been described as “an accurate and wholly truthful” account of Harry’s life, from his childhood to his time in the military. The memoir is also expected to include some “unwelcomed” stories; this explains why the Royal family wishes for the book to remain unreleased.
Many fans suspect that the details of the platinum jubilee celebrations of the Queen will also be included. Since Harry’s book is sure to be launched this year, the streaming platform wants the Docuseries released this year as opposed to the following year, which was the initial plan. “Executives at Netflix knew the book was coming out, which is why they wanted the series this year… they don’t want to hold off any longer,” the source claims.
