Hiroshi Tanahashi will kick off tonight’s show, as he leads two young lions into battle tonight. Yuto Nakashima went toe to toe with House of Torture last night, and tonight will help The Ace take down EVIL & SHO in action here tonight.
House of Torture Knows Who To Target
EVIL & Tanahashi would kick things off, with a kick to the gut of the ace leaving to a headlock. Tanahashi would fight free into a wrist lock, before moving into a side headlock of his own. EVIL would push to the ropes, allowing for SHO to yank the hair of Tanahashi. He’d respond by raking the eyes of EVIL and shove him to the corner so Nakashima can get him.
EVIL would be dropped, and Nakashima would call for a double team with Tanahashi – before the ace would be pulled to the floor, and Dick Togo got some cheap shots in. SHO would keep the pressure on in the ring, before Tanahashi got the Dragon Screw.
Nakashima would get the scoop slam to set up a Boston Crab attempt, only to he stopped by EVIL. Tanahashi would even the odds before Nakashima hit a series of kicks to the chest of SHO. Boston Crab would be applied, before SHO easily broke free before a kick to the jaw. Snake Bite would be avoided, before ending up in a cross armbreaker. SHO would get the full extension, and Nakashima tapped.
El Phantasmo Takes Down A Heavyweight Once Again
BULLET CLUB has really gotten the G1 Climax off to a good start, despite KENTA being tricked into a loss from EVIL last night. Tonight, he teams with El Phantasmo to take on Royce Isaacs & Tom Lawlor. Tom Lawlor got his tournament started against Lance Archer last night in a losing effort, and will be looking to regain some ground before facing JONAH on Saturday.
ELP would start alongside Tom Lawlor, and nearly got taken down to the mat in the process. Instead, he’s focus on teaching the crowd to stomp and clap, before rhythmically throwing forearms with Lawlor. This was a mistake, and he’d quickly be stuck down. Lawlor would try to lure ELP into his guard on the mat, before Isaacs would be tagged in.
Filthy Pose would be struck, Lawlor was tagged back in – whipped down to the mat – and had a chest hair torn out. KENTA & Lawlor would trade some blows in the ring, a welcome exchange from fans. Lawlor would dodge the head kick and hit the ZigZag, before tags to Isaacs & ELP. Isaacs would throw some heavy lariats in the corner, before a pop up powerslam for a two count.
Jackhammer would have gotten the three, but KENTA broke things up before taking a Team Filthy German Suplex. ELP would nail Sudden Death, before CR2 for the win.
JONAH & Jeff Cobb Test The Strength Of The Ring
JONAH will soon lock horns with Jeff Cobb, in a match that could determine who the greatest heavyweight in NJPW is on August 5th. Tonight, we get a preview of this encounter, as former IWGP Tag Team Champions Cobb & Great-O-Khan take on Bad Dude Tito & JONAH. This will be a hard hitting clash – and they had better reinforced the ring tonight.
JONAH would get the cheap shot on Cobb to begin, before a double back elbow to the face of Great-O-Khan. Tito would pummel Great-O-Khan into the corner with fast strikes, before JONAH would get the tag and almost got the three count off a standing splash. Tito would get the tag after a scoop slam set up a floating senton.
Cobb would get the tag and hit some running shoulder tackles, before a running suplex on Tito for a two count. Reverse Eliminator would land, but JONAH would make the save. JONAH & Cobb would meet in the middle of the ring and traded blows, crashing into each other with lariats – sending both men to the floor.
In the ring, Great-O-Khan would hit a backbreaker into the Sheepkiller on Tito, getting the win. Cobb & JONAH would stand off before JONAH would head to the back – but fans are excited to see them properly meet in singles action.
