After ruling NJPW Strong, it’s time for Team Filthy to take Japan by storm. Tom Lawlor kicks off his first G1 Climax soon, but tonight with Royce Isaacs by his side – he has a chance to warm up with a young lion. Kosei Fujita is his opponent, and it’ll take a perfect match to defeat him tonight.
Tom Lawlor Steps Into The Ring To Tear Down Kosei Fujita
Lawlor would quickly take Fuijta down to the mat, and was able to grab an attempt at the single leg crab. Fujita found the ropes, but was beaten into the corner with some heavy strikes. Lawlor would catch Fuijta on the diving splash attempt into a slam, before Isaacs kissed the biceps of the former Strong Openweight Champion.
Fujita would look to hit the Belly to Belly Suplex, and got it on the second attempt – needing to beat down Lawlor a bit first. Lawlor would get the rear naked choke applied, before a knee to the back of the neck for the win. Lawlor starts his tournament on July 26th, the latest possible to start the tournament – and he will face Lance Archer then.
The Top Dog Is Here
The last time NJPW fans in Japan got to see TMDK, it was before Shane Haste & Mikey Nicols went to WWE. Tonight, JONAH & Bad Dude Tito bring TMDK back to Japan as they face Toru Yano & Ryohei Oiwa. JONAH will meet Yano tomorrow in their first taste of tournament action, and will have a chance to scout some of the tricks that Yano has planned.
Oiwa dashed to the ring as Yano took his time getting to the ring – wanting nothing of JONAH. Even in the ring, Yano insisted Oiwa starts – but was forced to start. He’d try to suplex JONAH, but couldn’t get his arms around. JONAH hit a shoulder tackle and tagged in Tito. Oiwa would rush into him, and was able to topple him – before being dropped with an enziguri.
Some heavy chops in the corner would follow, before JONAH hit the ring with a delayed vertical suplex. Bad Dude Tito soared over the top rope, with a senton. Camel Clutch was applied, but Oiwa broke free. Yano got the tag, and exposed a corner and blamed Tito. Tito hit the steel, and was rolled up for two.
Yano would take a blockbuster, before JONAH & Oiwa became legal. Oiwa would stick and move, hitting some running dropkicks. A body press dropped Oiwa, and a Powerbomb let JONAH pin him with his foot. Yano ran away, but won’t be able to do that tomorrow.
Former NEVER Openweight Six Man Tag Team Champions Hit The Ring For Trios Action
David Finlay is finally in the G1 Climax, but his tournament starts another night. Tonight, he teams with Jado & Tama Tonga to face the former NEVER Openweight Six Man Tag Team Champions, House of Torture. SHO, EVIl & Yujiro Takahashi are looking to bounce back before EVIL & Takahashi kick off their tournaments, and a win tonight would be big for them.
House of Torture would start with the pre-match attack like always, before Tama & Finlay would clear the ring. Dick Togo would help EVIL remain in control by luring Tama to the floor. SHO would attack Tama using the barricade, before EVIL would hit the bodyslam in the ring for a two count.
Yujiro would get some quick stomps in, before Tama managed a big side slam. Finlay hit the ring with some backdrops, getting a two count on Yujiro. A chokebreaker would land, before Jado wanted the tag. Tama hit the neckbreaker to set up the OJK – but SHO hit the ring and used a wrench to crack Jado. Pimp Juice would land, and House of Torture win.
