Prince Harry had a dig at his brother Prince William and Kate Middleton by referring to his own children as carrying on his late mother Princess Diana’s legacy.
Prince Harry Has Dig At William And Kate’s Children By Praising Archie And Lilibet-‘I See My Mum’s Legacy When I Look At My Own Children’
Harry’s comments arrived on the back end of what would have been Diana’s 61st birthday on Friday, 1st July 2022. And as part of that process, Harry just so happened to be speaking virtually to the organisers of the Diana Awards.
The ceremony is designed to pay homage to young people, who have been instrumental in improving the lives of others. And given that Diana had such a profound impact on Harry, he could not help but praise his mother’s guidance.
In his comments, he said: “There isn’t a day during the past two and a half decades where I haven’t thought about the mark she left not only on me and my brother but on all of our lives.
“My mother instilled in me … a drive to speak up and fight for a better world.” It is easy to see Diana’s influence on Harry. Both of them had their respective issues with the Royal family.
Diana had split from Prince Charles in 1992, but carried on with her Royal duties until 1996 when the divorce was made official.
Harry was equally dissatisfied in the Royal family, which is why he decided to walk away in 2020. And by doing what he thought was best for his family, Harry wanted to instil those same values into his children.
His following comments confirmed as much: “I see her legacy every time I meet with families, young people and children from all corners of the world. And I see my mum’s legacy when I look at my own children every day.”
The response on social media, however, was not so sympathetic. A certain subset of people were of the view that Harry’s comments lacked grace, as they centred around himself.
One person wrote: “Using his mother for personal agenda again.. Yikes move on haz.” So there you have it folks. What did you think about this? Let us know your thoughts in the comments section below.
