Queen Elizabeth II was reportedly delighted that Meghan Markle did not attend Prince Philip’s funeral.
Queen Elizabeth II Was Delighted That Meghan Missed Prince Philip’s Funeral Despite Criticism Of Prince Andrew’s Attendance-‘Thank Goodness Meghan Is Not Coming’
That is according to author Tom Bower in his book entitled ‘Revenge: Meghan, Harry and the war between the Windsors.’
Despite the differences between members of the Royal family, Prince Harry made a return to the UK in order to be there for his grandfather’s funeral.
During the course of that process, Harry was seen walking alongside his brother Prince William and Kate Middleton.
While that may have been the case, it appears that the monarch was not keen to see Meghan attending. In his book, Tom claimed the Queen told her aides the following: “Thank goodness Meghan is not coming.”
This is hardly a surprise based on the following factors. First of all, it was the Queen’s husband who had passed away.
Therefore, she may have been of the view that Meghan’s appearance could have caused more controversy at an event that was meant to honour Philip. Secondly, it would also indicate that things between the Queen and Meghan are not that rosy.
And yet, it is also important to remember that Meghan had allegedly been advised not to attend the funeral on the basis that she was expecting Lilibet at that time. It was claimed that she did not get the requisite permission in order to board the plane.
Nevertheless, those comments did not go down well on social media. A certain subset of people were outraged that the monarch would have allowed other members of the Royal family to attend, who had done much more damage to the Royal family.
One person wrote: #Thequeen is okay with #Princeandrew being around tho right? Smh #royals are disgusting.”
Now that the funeral is over, every effort should be made in trying to reconcile things between Harry and Meghan vis-à-vis the Royals. So there you have it folks.
