Erika Jayne was served with a whopping $50 million racketeering lawsuit just moments after she landed back in Los Angeles following a luxurious Hawaiian vacation. Erika had returned from taking a holiday with her fellow Real Housewives of Beverly Hills co-stars Lisa Rinna and newbie Diana Jenkins when she was hit with a swift reality check as soon as she stepped off the plane.
Exclusive photos and video footage show Erika, 51, trying to exit Los Angeles International Airport when a woman hands her two hefty stacks of paperwork outlining the details of the lawsuit. Erika was clearly not expecting to be ambushed at LAX, as she was dressed casually in a white tracksuit and was uncharacteristically without her signature glam.
RHOBH: Erika Jayne Served With $50 Million Lawsuit While Returning From Hawaiian Vacation
“I just wanted to give you these documents … this is a summons and complaint to serve you,” the process server said to Erika. Though the reality star was wearing a face mask at the time, she was visibly irritated by the situation, and was likely even more upset at the fact that everything had been caught on camera.
The extensive suit filed by Edelson PC, accuses Erika of ‘racketeering, conspiracy to commit racketeering, unlawful business practice and deceit,’ among others, totaling nine charges against her. Erika Jayne has been faced with endless legal troubles tied to her estranged husband Tom Girardi and his law firm, Girardi Keese.
Disbarred attorney Tom Girardi, 83, has been accused of ‘misappropriating his clients’ settlement funds’ and using money stolen from orphans and widows to fund an opulent lifestyle for himself and Erika. Jayne has been accused of ‘aiding and abetting’ her husband and has been uncooperative with turning over any financial records or gifts given to her by Girardi.
“Tom and Erika routinely misappropriated client settlement money to project an image of wealth and to prop up a lifestyle made for reality TV,” the lawsuit alleges. The suit also suggests that Erika’s company, EJ Global “was created for the purpose of funneling money from Girardi Keese to benefit Erika.” The suit further persists that Erika knew of Girardi’s money-grabbing ploy that ‘embezzled settlement funds meant to help the victims of Lion Air Flight 610.’
Jayne, who formerly dabbled as a pop singer with cringeworthy song titles such as “It’s EXXXPEN$IVE To Be Me’ was also accused of flaunt[ing]” her excessive wealth and “acting as the ‘frontwoman’ to Girardi’s elaborate con operation. While no charges have been formally filed against Erika Jayne or Tom Girardi, it’s safe to assume that there is an ongoing investigation into all of the accusations made against them.
