With news of Triple H taking over a head of WWE Creative, there were lots of hopes that WWE Raw on July 25 would be different, but it was just another episode of Raw with a couple of tweaks.
While that was disappointing to many, there’s a legitimate reason for it as the show was reportedly given the final go ahead by Vince McMahon the day before they retired/resigned.
But also, Stephanie McMahon and Triple H don’t want to make any changes too fast as they want to show the shareholders the company will remain stable during the current transition in power.
There will be change coming, as reported by Fightful Select following a backstage meeting Triple H held with talent before Raw began.
Making changes
According to Fightful, those attending the meeting said it went well and there’s “a lot of optimism surrounding the change in creative.”
This isn’t surprising as a bulk of WWE’s roster worked with Triple H on NXT between 2012 to 2021 and they know what to expect out of him.
Triple H reportedly talked about the importance of transparency through an open line of communication as some felt an open line didn’t exist under Vince.
He also talked about how he wants work to be fun and intends to create an environment that makes it possible.
Overall, it’s believed that this was a positive way to start off the new era in WWE.
When will changes be made?
While changes are in the process of being made behind the scenes, we doubt there will be noticeable differences until after SummerSlam for the reasons we mentioned above.
There’s also Vince’s ego to consider, and he remains the majority owner of WWE even if he’s not in power and family time wouldn’t be comfortable if they changed too much too soon.
Still, the WWE tends to plan ahead up to weeks and months despite the seemingly constant last second rewrites before a show, so the changes will be minor as the gradual shift will commence.
It was still pretty cool to see a couple of changes in July 27’s Raw that felt like Triple H’s style from camera angles to opening the show with a brawl instead of the usual banter preceding it.
While there were only a few reported tweaks to the show, it’s just the beginning in what many expect to be a change for the better in many ways.
