Ronda Rousey & Natalya were once the best of friends, with Natalya helping to train Rousey during her first run in WWE. However, Natalya has not found her friend since Rousey made her return to WWE in January of this year. Instead, Natalya has claimed that Rousey has become arrogant, and tonight will look to humble Rousey – and win the SmackDown Women’s Championship along the way. Rousey has been proving herself as a worthy champion since claiming the belt from Charlotte Flair, but tonight will be the toughest challenge yet.

Natalya Feels She’s Owed This Championship Due To Her Tenure With WWE

Natalya would kick things off hot, driving Ronda into the ropes – and not allowing a clean break. A shove to the ropes would be followed by a headlock takeover. Ronda blocked into a hammerlock, but Natalya countered out into a Fireman’s Carry Takedown.

We’d see Natalya win out in regards to chain wrestling, but Ronda would win the sprawl on the mat. Natalya would grab an ankle lock, but Ronda would counter into one of her own. She’d get flung off, before blocking a running dropkick and almost reapplying the hold. Ronda would be flung throat first into the ropes.

Natalya got some ground and pound strikes, before slapping Ronda in the corner. Snapmare into sleeper hold would follow, before Natalya kept the beatdown coming. Ronda would nearly apply the armbar, but Natalya fought it off.

Ronda Rousey Remains Champion… Until Liv Morgan Arrives

Natalya would be sent into the corner for the rising knee, before Ronda would look to set up Pipers Pit. Ronda was unable to hit the slam, before Natalya would look to apply the armbar herself. Natalya would be countered into the Hart family signature Sharpshooter, but was able to easily find the bottom rope.

They’d trade slaps before Ronda would look for the armbar – only to get sent out to the floor. Natalya would target the knee of Ronda, before applying the Sharpshooter on the apron. Ronda would counter by sending Natalya into the ringpost.

Back into the ring, Natalya would block an armbar attempt into a sharpshooter, which was blocked into the ankle lock. Natalya moved back into the sharpshooter, but Ronda applied the armbar for the submission victory.

After the bell, Liv Morgan cashed in her Money in the Bank briefcase – as Ronda could barely stand. A kick was blocked into an ankle lock, and Ronda was unable to hold it before being rolled up for the win! We have a new Smackdown Women’s Champion!

A wrestling fan practically since birth, who has been hooked since he got his first toy wrestling ring for Christmas as a child. Since getting access to the internet, he's watched more wrestling than he could ever remember from all around the world. It's hard to keep track of what happens in the wild world of professional wrestling, but he always tries to stay up to date. Note: No relation to Tully Blanchard of Four Horsemen fame (probably).
