Theory is an incredibly important man to keep an eye on tonight at Summerslam – as he’s the only man with a chance to walk out with two different championships. As the holder of the Money in the Bank briefcase, he is haunting the Undisputed WWE Universal Championship match tonight – and also has a chance to regain the United States Championship against Lashley. With Vince McMahon gone, Theory is no longer protected by the boss – but will prove he can stand on his own two legs. Interestingly, he’d be wearing gear from The Way era in NXT – perhaps a sign of things to come.
Lashley Doesn’t Get Paid By The Hour For Title Defences
Before the bell, Theory would beat Lashley down with the MITB briefcase, before Lashley demanded the referee ring the bell. Theory would throw some strikes, before Lashley would take the rolling blockbuster – before being able to fire back with a massive spinebuster.
Theory would flee the ring before a spear, and would pose with the MITB briefcase and was blocked from leaving by Lashley. He’d be driven into the barricade, before a flatliner in the ring. Theory hit a big elbow smash before being driven down with a running powerslam.
Lashley would shoot for the spear, but was leapfrogged. Theory would walk into the Hurt Lock – and this one was over just like that. His double champion dreams are over, but his night could be far from over. He still has that briefcase, and a main event to watch.
Judgement Day Are Set To Destroy
Ever since Finn Balor took control of The Judgement Day, they’ve been focused on recruiting Dominik Mysterio. They want him to step out of his fathers legendary shadow, and would even threaten to Con-Chair-To Rey Mysterio if he didn’t agree to join – but that was all a ruse, and Dominik was beaten instead. Tonight at Summerslam, it’s a No DQ tag team match – as Rey & Dominik will face Balor & Damien Priest tonight.
This one would quickly turn into a wild brawl – with Balor going after Rey, and Priest after Dom. Priest & Balor would be sent to the floor, with Rey setting up the ropes before a dive from Dom – followed by an Asai Moonsault from Rey. Back in the ting, Dom would get a two count off a flying crossbody – before Balor would gain control of the match.
A backbreaker legdrop combo would follow, before Priest nailed a massive elbow smash. Balor would show his strong style roots with some heavy strikes, before a jumping neckbreaker would get Dom free for a moment. A crossbody would follow from Rey, who would run circles around Priest before a seated senton and dropkick. He’d slide from the ring with the chair, landing on Balor – before a big DDT attempt was foiled in the ring.
Edge Is BACK!
Superkick would get Priest a two count, before Balor tagged in and was taken down hard with a Superrana for a two count. Double 619 was set, but Ripley would get involved and dropped Dom face first on the apron. Rey was solo in the ring, and took the South Of Heaven.
Suddenly, the lights would go out and The Brood theme song would hit. Edge would rise through a ring of fire to a massive reaction – ready to take the fight to the faction who exiled him. Priest would be dropped before Balor took a spear in the ring. Priest took one soon after, and Edge would set up a 619 for his old tag team partner – and Rey would get the victory.
