UFC middleweight Darren Till’s fighting fortunes of late have been less than stellar. Till was once widely tipped as a future champion at welterweight, with the Liverpudlian fighter’s natural charisma and ferocious striking making him popular among fans and matchmakers alike.
A failed title attempt against Tyron Woodley was compounded by a brutal knockout loss to Jorge Masvidal, and although a move to middleweight looked promising for Till, he remains 1-4 in his last five fights. Michael Bisping, a fellow Englishman, still sees a UFC title in Darren Till’s future, as he revealed on his YouTube channel.
Bisping Predicts A Title in Darren Till’s Future
“Darren Till – you’re laughing at me because he’s 1-3 in his last four – Darren Till will be champion one day. His striking is phenomenal. His mind is strong. He’s just had a bit of a bad run. And again, 29 years old. He’ll be champ.”
Michael Bisping was born and raised in Manchester, only half an hour from Till’s native Liverpool. He was the UK’s first UFC champion, and some might think that he suffers from a case of tall poppy syndrome when it comes to his fellow countrymen. Nothing, Bisping insists, could be further from the truth. Michael Bisping pointed out the stellar talent among the crop of young British fighters, including the new welterweight champion Leon Edwards.
He also tipped Tom Aspinall as a future heavyweight champ despite Aspinall suffering a knee injury at UFC London.
“People seem to think I’m salty that Leon won. I am over the goddamn moon for Leon, and I support every fighter from the U.K. Of course I wasn’t going to be the first and only one. We’re going to have a slew of champions coming from the U.K. Tom Aspinall, as we know, sadly really hurt his leg. But Tom will be champion. He will be back. He’s going to rehab, he’s going to have the surgery, he’s going to be coming back six months, nine months, maybe a year.
But he’s only 29 years old and he will be champion of the heavyweight division – make no mistake. Mark my words.”
Darren Till’s most recent attempt to rectify his losing streak was supposed to take place in July. Till was forced out of the scheduled bout with Jack Hermansson by an undisclosed injury, and the Scouse fighter has not made an Octagon appearance since.
